The Last of Us HBO Nabs Storm Reid to Play Riley

The Last of Us HBO series will star Euphoria and A Wrinkle in Time actress Storm Reid as Riley, it has been confirmed. This casting update was exclusively reported by Deadline and later confirmed by Naughty Dog on Twitter.

The Last of Us HBO: Who’s Riley Abel?

While Riley was only mentioned in the original The Last of Us, she made an appearance in standalone expansion Left Behind and American Dreams comic book, which was penned by Neil Druckmann and Faith Erin Hicks. Don’t worry, we won’t spoil any of the stories for you, but it’s pertinent to mention that Riley holds a lot of importance for Ellie so this is a significant addition to the show.

It’s unclear if The Last of Us HBO series will include events from Left Behind and/or the comic, or tell its own story.

When will The Last of Us HBO release?

The Last of Us HBO is expected to begin airing later in 2022, but nothing is official or confirmed as of yet. However, actress Bella Ramsey recently linked her Instagram followers to an IMDB page that claimed that The Last of Us will “premiere in 2022 on HBO Max.”

In other news, Sega filed two NFT trademarks around the same time it promised to reconsider its plans, and it turns out, it was Sony first-party developers who pushed the company to release PlayStation games on PC.
