In news we didn’t expect, a 13-year-old PS Vita RPG is coming to home consoles for the first time in the form of a PS5 remaster. Published by Furyu and developed by Studio Saizensen, Exstetra was only released in Japan for the PS Vita and Nintendo 3DS back in 2013.
Not only is Exstetra getting remastered for the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 1 &2, but it’s also getting a global release for the first time. This is a bit of a surprise because back in 2013, XSEED was quizzed about potentially localizing the game for an English-speaking audience, to which the company responded that it was unlikely.
Well, Furyu thinks differently now, as the company will launch Exstetra remaster worldwide, first for PC on July 30, 2026, followed by PS5 and Switch platforms at a later date. The game will support multiple languages, including English.
“Kiss is the only way to save two worlds destined for ruin,” the plot reads. “Set in Amazea, a Tokyo fused with another world and fated for destruction, this is the story of a battle in which you become the chosen savior, a ‘Prisma,’ and fight to save two worlds from the brink of annihilation. The only way to save the world is a kiss…”
We’ll update our readers when a PS5 release date for Exstetra is announced.

It has now been confirmed that a major Sony security loophole is behind an alarming number of PS5 users having their PlayStation accounts hacked. “Hack” might not even be the right word for it, as what’s happening is basically one big social engineering scam successfully carried out with the help of PS Support agents.
To be clear, no one is immune to this social engineering scam because all hackers need is basic public information about the victim. Suggestions that the victims are to blame because they must have shared private information online, like a PS Store transaction number, are misleading at best.
While it’s true that sharing something as mundane as a screenshot of a PS Store purchase with a transaction number can aid hackers, that’s not how known PlayStation journalist and podcaster Colin Moriarty was hacked.
Scammers can break into an account with the help of PS Support by simply providing recent purchase history. So, for example, if you talk about buying a new game online and a scammer takes note, they can impersonate you by providing a transaction date and details about what you purchased, along with your username or email address, and gain control of your account.
This renders two-factor authentication and passkey useless because it’s a PS Support agent overriding your safety net.
X user PorkPoncho tested this out, and successfully “hacked” their sister’s PlayStation account (with her consent, of course) to demonstrate how it works:
I'll go with probably the most interesting part next. With the permission of my sister (and with her literally sitting in the room with me) I was able to breach her PSN account, change the email address and password, and take full control of it simply by contacting Sony support.… pic.twitter.com/OptEX3mB6p
— Poncho (@PorkPoncho) May 21, 2026
Moriarty also spoke about this issue at length in a new podcast:
As we mentioned in our previous article, Sony is now well aware of this problem, but has yet to address it. In the meantime, an increasing number of PS5 users are losing their accounts.
Just a day ago, another prominent trophy hunter revealed on PSNProfiles that after 10+ years, they lost their PlayStation account to a scammer in the same way and haven’t been able to recover it. Dejected, they have now decided to quit PlayStation gaming.
Here’s hoping we hear something from Sony…. and soon.

PS Plus users who were locked out of a free PS5 port of a 2022 PS4 Essential monthly freebie can now claim the upgrade and keep it for good. The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan‘s PS4 version was given away for free before the PS5 version’s launch. However, a glitch prevented some PS Plus users from claiming the free upgrade, which has now been resolved.
When Man of Medan’s PS5 version was added to the PS Plus Extra catalog later in 2022, it triggered a PS Store glitch that prevented Essential users from downloading the PS5 copy of the game, leaving them stuck with the PS4 version.
Now that Man of Medan has finally left the PS Plus Extra catalog, the glitch has been resolved. A huge thanks to Reddit user Aforumguy26 for pointing this out, as we had forgotten about the free upgrade ourselves.
Unfortunately, those who couldn’t wait for the glitch to be fixed and downloaded Man of Medan’s PS5 version via the Extra catalog have ended up overriding their permanent Essential license (we’ve only warned about this thousands of times).
If you previously claimed Man of Medan via PS Plus Essential but now only have access to a free trial, you’ve lost your license to the full game.

IO Interactive has confirmed that the highly anticipated 007 First Light will feature robust PS5 Pro upgrades. The game will launch with all the enhancements, so PS5 Pro owners won’t have to wait for post-launch patches.
PS5 Pro players can expect the following enhancements when 007 First Light launches:
“Upgraded PSSR gave us a meaningful jump in image quality across the board — cleaner, more stable, and noticeably sharper on the kind of fine detail that’s hardest to get right,” IO Interactive technical director Henrik Schlichter said on the PS Blog. “It’s a clear upgrade for our PS5 Pro players.”
“We integrated upgraded PSSR in about a day and were essentially happy with what we saw straight away,” added principal render engineer Jon Rocatis. “No per-scene tuning, no special-case work — it just held up across the whole game. That’s not something we get to say very often about a piece of new tech.”
007 First Light will launch next week on Wednesday, May 27.

Square Enix has stealth-dropped a free playable prologue for its promising upcoming PS5 RPG on the PS Store. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is brought to us by the developers of Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default, and you can check it out right now.
The Adventures of Elliot Prologue Demo is out now on the PS Store in all regions, and you don’t need a PS Plus subscription to play. However, if you do have a Premium membership, then you can skip downloading and cloud stream the demo.
All your progress will carry over to the full game, provided you use the same PlayStation accounts for both the demo and the game.
“Enjoy the opening chapter of the story with the same freedom of adventure as in the full game,” says Square Enix. “Progress in the main quest, explore the unknown, or hunt down new weapons and magicite — the future is up to you. Your adventure in Philabieldia, a world filled with discovery, starts here!”
The demo does limit players’ access to certain areas, and you cannot redeem “save data bonuses,” per Square Enix.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales will launch on June 18, 2026.

Just before the weekend, Sucker Punch Productions announced that Ghost of Yotei multiplayer will not receive any further major updates, leaving players upset. The Legends co-op mode was released as free DLC in March, and its last major update was released in April, making this a one-month affair.
Although Ghost of Yotei Legends’ Raid update was released in April, it wasn’t until last week that Sucker Punch revealed that it was the mode’s last major update.
“The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends,” the studio confirmed on the PS Blog. “It finishes the story of the Yōtei Six in that mode. We’ve loved to see players playing it, continue to play it and enjoy it. It’s been great.”
Fans understandably aren’t taking the news well.
“It’s really disappointing to see that, many people were expecting more content for Legends, but it seems our hopes are shattered,” wrote one player. “This is really disappointing,” another concurred. “We waited so long for new Legends, and after a short time, it becomes repetitive. Really poor move to not add more survival maps or 120 gear.”
“Wow, looks like we are the ones that got sucker punched,” a third opined.
To be fair to fans, month-long support for a highly anticipated mode was a bit unexpected, especially since Sony loves dabbling in live service elements. But there wasn’t any money to be made here, I guess.

PS5 players can now try a fun new game for free two weeks ahead of launch, and from the looks of things, many are already liking it. Developed by Ant Workshop and published by Wales Interactive, Into the Slimy Mines is a unique roguelike tower defence with card elements.
Into the Slimy Mines’ demo is now available in all regions. Simply head over to your local PS Store page and download it. A PS Plus subscription is not required to play and the demo cannot be cloud streamed.
“Protect your mine and rescue your crew after crash landing on a slime infested moon,” an official overview reads. “Buy cards and booster packs, expand your tunnels, find crazy combos and squish those frackin’ slimes. Dig, build, defend – and get off this B&*@!n Moon!”
Players can choose from three factions, each with their own unique play style.
Into the Slimy Mines will release on May 29, 2026. Its PS Store listing doesn’t specify what the demo includes or whether progress will carry over to the full game. However, the free sample already boasts 4.33/5 Stars on the PS Store.

In case you missed it, the PS Store has dropped a free gift for all PS Plus members on PS5. The Battlefield 6 “Search and Destroy” DLC pack costs $19.99 for everyone else, including players on other platforms. Those who don’t own Battlefield 6 can also claim the freebie, and they should before it disappears.
PS5 members can claim the pack via the PS Plus tab on their console or the PS App. The DLC bundle is listed in the “Exclusive Packs” section. Here’s what it contains:
The items can be used in both Battlefield 6 multiplayer and the free Redsec mode.
The PS Store listing doesn’t mention how long the DLC will be redeemable for free, but we’ve seen these offers pulled before, so it’s better to grab it now rather than later.
Battlefield 6 Phantom Edition is currently 30% off on the PS Store.
