Ghostwire Tokyo Release Date Apparently Leaked by PSN

Ghostwire Tokyo release date seems to have been leaked by none other than Sony itself. According to a now-deleted entry, the game will release on March 24, 2022.

Spotted by MP1st, the release date was leaked by PlayStation Store’s New Zealand page, which now only displays a “release date to be determined” message.

Is the leaked Ghostwire Tokyo release date accurate?

Just because the release date was outed by PlayStation, it doesn’t mean it’s accurate. Although rare, PSN pages have erroneously displayed release dates and windows. That said, Ghostwire Tokyo recently started receiving age ratings worldwide, indicating that a release date will be announced soon. Interestingly, we’ve heard rumblings of a PlayStation event – possibly State of Play – scheduled for February. And if rumors are true, Ghostwire Tokyo‘s release date will be announced during the event.

Ghostwire Tokyo was announced as a timed PlayStation 5 console-exclusive in 2019. In development at Tango Gameworks, it’s being directed by Kenji Kimura. Its original creative director, Ikumi Nakamura, ended up resigning due to her health. Then, in July 2021, Ghostwire Tokyo was delayed to “early 2022,” so we won’t be too surprised if the aforementioned release date is accurate.

Opinion: Ghostwire Tokyo may be the last new Bethesda IP on PS5

Zarmena writes… When Microsoft announced its acquisition of Zenimax Media, Bethesda and all of its studios – including Shinji Mikami’s Tango Gameworks – went to the house of Xbox. Bound by contractual obligations, Bethesda proceeded with the release of Arkane Studios’ Deathloop, with Ghostwire Tokyo being next. While we may see new Bethesda games on PlayStation platforms in the future, it’s unlikely that brand new IPs will land on Sony’s consoles, and if they do, they certainly won’t be exclusive. Adios, Bethesda.

In other news, PlayStation creator doesn’t care about VR or metaverse, and if you haven’t already, head over to PlayStation’s website and check out your 2021 gaming stats.
