PlayStation Makes Sneaky Update to Celebrate Wolverine PS5

PlayStation has sneaked in a nifty little update to celebrate the launch of Insomniac Games’ PS5 exclusive Marvel’s Wolverine. Yesterday, Sony Interactive Entertainment pushed out an update to the PS App that changes its trademark blue icon to a Wolverine-themed one.

The new PS App icon is now available worldwide. Simply head over to your regional iOS or Android store and update the app. These changes are usually time-limited and last only a few weeks, so if you want to keep the icon beyond that time frame, pause automatic updates until Sony mandates a PS App update.

Updating the PS App icon now seems to be part of Sony’s marketing and promotion routine, but only reserved for major events. It started with Days of Play 2025, and we briefly saw the icon change to GTA VI-themed colors when the game’s preorders went live.

If I’m not wrong, Wolverine PS5 launch celebration is only the third time Sony has changed the PS App’s icon.

Insomniac’s take on Wolverine will launch on September 15, 2026. Reviews are already out, and while they’re positive overall, this is one of the studio’s lowest-rated games, with a Metacritic score of 78/100.

PS5 is getting a complete, enhanced port of an acclaimed PS Vita RPG soon, and its price won’t break the bank. Muramasa: Revenant Blades brings a ‘refined’ version of 2013’s Muramasa: Rebirth and its DLC, Genroku Legends, in a single package.

Acclaimed PS Vita RPG Muramasa: Revenant Blades coming to PS5 in February 2027

Muramasa: Revenant Blades will release on February 4, 2027, for $49.99. A limited edition will also be available for $89.99, which will include:

• Full game
• Art book
• Soundtrack CD
• 10×14″ byobu folding screen

“Deep in Japan’s past, a great conflict erupts over the ownership of fabled and powerful samurai swords forged by the legendary Senji Muramasa,” an overview reads. “These swords grant their owner both incredible power and a madness that can be sated only by blood. As various factions clash over these mythical weapons, demons and evil spirits drawn to the bloodshed rampage across the land.”

Players will learn the stories of six characters whose lives are upended by the swords.

Muramasa: Revenant Blades will feature brand-new localization and English voiceovers. The game will also feature 4K support.

A PS Store page is now live, where players can add the RPG to their wishlists.

At launch, Muramasa: Revenant Blades will support PS5’s Power Saver mode.

PlayStation Exclusive Action Game Series Returning After 10+ Years – Report

A dormant, beloved PlayStation exclusive action game franchise is reportedly returning more than a decade after its last entry. Before Horizon Zero Dawn, Guerrilla Games was known for its Killzone series that debuted on the PS2 in 2004. The franchise hasn’t seen a new mainline entry since 2013 PS4 launch title, Killzone: Shadow Fall.

Guerrilla Games’ PlayStation exclusive action game series Killzone has long been assumed dead

According to a report published by MP1st, Guerrilla Games is working with a third-party studio on a Killzone remaster or remake. There is some speculation that the studio is Bulletstorm and Outriders dev, People Can Fly.

Back in 2025, People Can Fly and Sony Interactive Entertainment officially entered into a partnership to work on a game based on an undisclosed Sony IP. Codenamed Project Delta, the game is widely assumed to be an action/shooter title given People Can Fly’s expertise and past work.

Following the announcement, fans were convinced that either Killzone or SOCOM was being revived. Based on MP1st’s report, it seems that we’re looking at the former returning after more than a decade.

Killzone: Shadow Fall received mixed reviews at launch and wasn’t a commercial success. Since then, the Killzone franchise has been assumed dead, especially after the success of the Horizon series.

We’ll update our readers when we have more information, but as always, take all rumors with a grain of salt.
