Crysis 4 Update Is Bad News for Fans

Crysis 4 update and news

Crytek has provided an official update on the long-awaited Crysis 4, and it’s bad news all around. Not only is the game’s development on hold, it’s also likely losing a chunk of its development team as Crytek is laying off 15% of its employees.

Crysis 4 development has been on hold since Q4 2024

In a statement published on X, Crytek revealed that the next Crysis game has been on hold since the fourth quarter of 2024. Since then, the studio has been shifting its focus to Hunt: Showdown 1896. Crytek claims that Hunt is “growing,” but the studio’s bank account apparently isn’t.

As a result, an estimated 60 people are set to lose their jobs, with the future of Crysis uncertain.

“Crytek cannot continue as before and remain financially sustainable,” the statement reads, adding that the powers that be “firmly believe in the future of Crytek.” “With Hunt: Showdown 1896, we have a very strong gaming service and remain fully committed to its operation,” the statement continues.

Crytek plans to continue expanding Hunt: Showdown, but unfortunately, there’s no indication at present that Crysis 4’s development will resume in the near future. The only mention of the game in the statement was the revelation that its development is on hold.
