Sony will be the main headliner for Konami’s upcoming independent games exhibition called Indie Games Connect 2022. To be held on June 26 at the Konami Creative Center Ginza in Tokyo, the indie convention will primarily focus on building connections between video game developers and players. In fact, the event will be entirely free for all attendees, creators and fans alike, with no fee for developers to exhibit their games.
A deeper Sony Konami relationship at Indie Games Connect 2022
Among all of the supporters for Indie Games Connect 2022, Sony is currently the only named Platinum Supporter. Kodansha and Shueisha are Gold Supporters, whereas Unity Technologies and esports GINZA studio are Silver Supporters. Even with Konami’s struggles to mount a comeback, Sony still remains a staunch advocate.
The outline for the event features three distinct sections. The Indie Games Exhibition will be a space for video game creators to interact directly with as many users as possible. On the more critical side, the Game Development Consultation for Exhibitors will give professionals a chance to play the games and provide feedback to any questions or concerns the creators might have about the game prior to the release. The lineup for all of the games in the exhibition will be released in early May.
The most prominent part of Indie Games Connect 2022 will be a Game Developers Seminar. There, the future of indie games wil be spearheaded by none other than Shuhei Yoshida, the former president and current Head of Independent Developer Initiative for Sony Interactive Entertainment.
Near the end of 2021, Yoshida revealed in an official blog on PlayStation his most “favorite PlayStation indie games of 2021.” The list included the likes of Among Us, Death’s Door, Kena Bridge of Spirits, Hades, Ender Lilies, and FIST Forged in Shadow Torch.
In other news, Ubisoft Stockholm is creating a new action IP and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands will features cross-play across all platforms.
