PSVR 2 Update Rolled Out, Here’s What It Does

Sony rolled out a PSVR 2 update today alongside the PS5 and PS4 firmware updates that we detailed earlier. No official patch notes have been made available but users have been able to figure some of the changes out.

PSVR 2 update details (March 8, 2023)

Following today’s PS5 update, the DualSense and DualSense Edge controllers can be updated wirelessly. Thankfully, this applies to the PSVR 2’s Sense controllers as well. Multiple users have confirmed that they’re able to update the VR controllers wirelessly.

Folks on Reddit have also noticed an improved image quality, especially when playing Horizon: Call of the Mountain and Gran Turismo 7. One user noted that Sony has fixed a problem some players were experiencing whereby they were having trouble switching off their televisions while using PSVR 2. This issue didn’t affect all players but was widespread enough to be reported frequently since launch. It appears that PSVR 2 was having compatibility issues with some setups but players weren’t able to figure out the root cause.

We’ll update our readers if Sony releases patch notes for today’s PSVR 2 update, and continue to monitor discussions on various forums.
