A 2025 PS5 open world sandbox game is getting a sequel, which comes as a surprise given the first game’s reception. Wreckreation 2 will be a sequel to the 2025 arcade racer that earned a lukewarm reception from players and critics alike.

The Wreckreation IP has been handed over to a new studio this time. The original game was developed by Three Fields Entertainment and published by THQ Nordic. The sequel is in development at When Tides Turn — a studio founded by Criterion Games‘ co-founder Fiona Sperry.
A release date or release window for Wreckreation 2 wasn’t revealed, but you can check out an announcement trailer below:
“Over the last six months we’ve been talking directly to players about what they want from a modern arcade driving game, and Wreckreation 2 is the result of those conversations,” Sperry said in a press release. “From handling and progression to events and world design, our community has already helped shape key aspects of the experience. We’re building this game with the players, not just for them.”
