Those who often claim free games from PS Plus or freebies from the PS Store will be all too familiar with the “Thank you for your purchase” receipts that Sony emails out for each piece of content claimed. It never really made sense, but it looks like the practice may have ceased… at least partially.
Players surprised by no PS Store receipts for March 2023’s PS Plus Essential line-up
I’m pretty used to seeing my inbox get filled up with receipts when redeeming free content from the PS Store so it was pretty noticeable when I didn’t receive a single email when claiming March 2023’s PS Plus Essential line-up. I didn’t make much of it, but it looks like I wasn’t the only one.
Over on Reddit, multiple threads have cropped up, with players both relieved and worried about the lack of email receipts. On one hand are relieved players who were pretty fed up with 40+ emails just for claiming Sackboy: A Big Adventure’s free DLC. On the other hand are players who are concerned that they will now have no “proof” of having redeemed free content should Sony ever pull it in the future.
We can’t be sure that Sony has stopped generating receipts for free PS Store content, though. It might just have been a glitch impacting the current PS Plus Essential line-up.
