Over the weekend, Forbes published an article quoting YouTuber Upper Echelon Gamers who claims to have been contacted by a “whistleblower” with the accusation that Cyberpunk 2077 bugs and issues are entirely the fault of an external QA partner named Quantic Lab. The report has since been picked up by a number of websites but it all sounds sketchy at best and we’re not quite sure there’s much truth to it.
What the report says about the infamous Cyberpunk 2077 bugs
According to Upper Echelon Gamers, they were sent a 72-page document by someone that works (or worked) at Quantic Lab. According to them, the QA company misled CD Projekt RED about the size of the team involved in the project in order to keep the contract. Allegedly, the staff members that were involved in Cyberpunk 2077 QA work were inexperienced (under six months of experience) and there were no seniors keeping a check on things. Upper Echelon Gamers’ source further claims – and this is the most bizarre one – that Quantic Lab had a quota system for how many bugs its team had to report in a day, leading to CDPR devs being inundated with thousands of pointless reports that led to critical and game-breaking bugs being shafted.
That last claim is, quite frankly, enough for me to dismiss this report. But wait, there’s more. Upper Echelon Gamers’ entire channel seems to be dedicated to controversy (or stirring it, really), with several videos dedicated to Cyberpunk 2077 that favor CDPR. The YouTuber also has a history of attacking games media with gems like this:
