Astral Chain makes smashing debut at the top spot of the UK Charts

It's all change in the UK Charts this week, as a run of big releases has finally shaken up a very stagnant Top Ten. When the dust settled, Platinum's futuristic hack 'n' slash adventure Astral Chain stood proudly in the number one spot, usurping Nintendo's Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Following up Platinum's latest release is the console port of THQ Nordic chaotic racer Wreckfest, which landed at number two. Bandai Namco came in third with their latest Dark Pictures horror title Man of Medan, while Remedy's highly-acclaimed sci-fi actioner Control debuted at number four. This is slightly lower than I had been expecting, but it should be noted that placings between number one and number four are separated by, at most, around 1500 copies or less, so it was a close call for all concerned.

Elsewhere in the charts, the launch of a Game of the Year edition for Marvel's Spider-Man saw discounts which allowed the web-crawler to leap all the way from number 34 to number eight, while retro RPG compendium Collection of Mana made a quiet debut at number 22, which is to be expected for a more niche retro release.
