'Shop Contest: Why So Serious?

The world will get a new Joker film in October. But some folks, including some film critics, have already seen the film and the reviews are surprisingly positive. Maybe this new Joker movie is actually really good! Or maybe it’s terrible. I don’t know. But regardless, let’s have some fun with this new Clown Prince.

Review: The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan

"Like, zoinks gang! We're stranded on a spooky ghost ship!" is what I imagined the cast of Dark Pictures: The Man of Medan to say when I booted it up.

They did not! Instead this very horrific tale from the horror masters over at Supermassive Games takes a decidedly different tone, incorporating elements they learned from Until Dawn to deliver another worthy thriller.

As Persona 5 Royal Goes Gold, Sony Says the Series Is Important to PlayStation

Sony Interactive Entertainment said at the recent Persona 5 RoyalRoyal Experience’ event that the Atlus series holds a lot of importance for PlayStation platforms.

Fan site Persona Central reports that while celebrating the upcoming title’s gold status, SIE Japan Asia president Atsushi Morita said that Persona is “one of the Japanese IPs that can compete internationally.”

“The IP has walked alongside PlayStation ever since the first entry in 1996,” he added. “I hope that we can continue walking together in the future.”

Elsewhere during the event, Atlus director Naoto Hiraoka reflected upon the past three years since Persona 5‘s release, and thanked fans for their support in helping the game win numerous awards. Composer Shoji Meguro expressed his confidence in Persona 5 Royal, stating that the game’s development staff includes young and enthusiastic developers. He also said that he was honored to be involved with the series for quite some time and was excited about the future.

Last but not least, Sega Holdings’ president and chief operating officer Hideki Okamura praised Atlus as a studio and said that its work is unique and original. The company is pleased with Persona 5‘s sales performance at home and abroad, as well as the series’ overall performance.

Since its first release 23 years ago, the Persona franchise has sold 10 million copies worldwide. 2.7 million of this figure is attributed to the critically-acclaimed Persona 5.

Persona 5 Royal will launch in the West in Spring 2020. Expect more details during the Tokyo Game Show 2019, which will kick off on September 12th.

Bethesda promises big quality of life changes for next Fallout 76 update

I've been covering and playing Fallout 76 for nearly a year, and although it doesn't seem like it, Bethesa has been doing a pretty decent job of providing updates for the community on where the game is going next.

Sure the launch is a disaster, which makes the road map to fixing it in the future pretty easy to scrawl down on a paper napkin: but outside of the big free expansion-like updates that Bethesda has been doling out, there's been a ton of quality of life changes that have come. One such update is patch 13, which is coming soon for all platforms.

One big thing (and this is such a comedic Fallout 76 thing) is fixing a bug from a prior patch, including more disconnects, which is a huge drag. But outside of that, Vault 94 (the first raid) is getting buffed in some way (more rewards, XP, components), non-ballistic weapons are also getting armor penetration effects, mods are getting UI changes to better show their benefits (and how many you've unlocked), wires are going to be easier to place in your base (C.A.M.P.), crops are being fixed, and even more is teased in this preliminary rundown.

The next big thing is the Wastelanders update, which adds an "all-new main quest" (read: NPCs, it's finally going to be Fallout or Fallout-esque), new events, and "more features."
