Borderlands 3 team is 'aware of new community concerns,' and will address them after the holiday
The lull period has begun. You know the time: when people are off visiting their families and no big games are coming out (unless you're Super Smash Bros. and the month is December 2018). As a result patches might not come as expediently as pretty much any other time of year, and Gearbox is reminding folks that the same rules also apply to them.
Taking to Twitter, the studio notes that they are "aware of new community concerns that have been reported following the November 21 patch," this week's hotfix changelog is pretty light, but more fixes are on the way, as soon as next week. The culprit? Among other lingering problems, fast travel is a bit buggy now, and some players are reporting that guardian rank perks are bugged.
As for this round of hotfixes, which is actually a hotfix, the update rectifies a bug with the legendary shotgun The Butcher, where the recoil was a tad sillier than anticipated. Given that it's a pretty hot gun it's worth of its own update.
There's a grace period of sorts until the first major DLC drops (that's December 19), so it's a perfect time for a 'lil break. Not every game can be hobby-grade all the time!

Rockstar says 'vast majority' of Red Dead Redemption 2 PC issues now fixed, offers free PC care package DLC
Red Dead Redemption 2 recently hit PC by way of a ton of different platforms: except Steam. That changes on December 5, but before then Rockstar has done a ton of patching to smooth over that huge milestone of a launch.
Rockstar says that a "series of updates" have been deployed as of this week, which includes fixes for both the Rockstar Games Launcher (which has been causing many of the problems), as well as the appropriate NVIDIA drivers. The publisher says "the vast majority of performance issues...have now been resolved" on PC, but they're still working on "lingering issues" at this time.
To make up for a rocky PC launch, they're offering a free outfit (Preito Poncho, visible above and below) for Red Dead Online, as well as a "curated care package of items" that you can check out in full below. Don't get too excited: basically it's just a bunch of ammo, weapons and equipment to jump-start some early game chicanery. You can grab it now at the Camp lock box or the post office.
Now that the PC launch is out of the way, Rockstar needs to keep adding to Red Dead Online beyond these little equipment drops. We recently got a decent little class update a few months ago, but many Rockstar fans are still sticking with Grand Theft Auto Online, forgoing the jump over. With the PC platform in the mix (and the power of Steam), maybe those winds will shift.

With 2019 coming to a close, video game review score aggregator Metacritic has published (via VGC) its 15 highest-rated games of 2019 (excluding specific platform ports), with Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 remake and FromSoftware’s Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice in the lead.
Resident Evil 2‘s remake, which has been a smashing success for Capcom, sits at a Metascore of 93, followed by Activision-published Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice at 91. Final Fantasy XIV‘s Shadowbringers expansion, Monster Hunter: World‘s Iceborne expansion, and Disco Elysium round up the top five with Metascores of 91, 90, and 90, respectively.
- Buy Resident Evil 2 and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice for the PlayStation 4
The full list is as follows:
- Resident Evil 2 (Metascore: 93)
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (Metascore: 91)
- Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers (Metascore: 91)
- Monster Hunter: World – Iceborne (Metascore: 90)

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice‘s launch sales topped Dark Souls III‘s launch figures and it’s currently on track to match the Souls series’ best-selling game (Dark Souls III has sold an estimated 15 million unis to date).

Nintendo apologizes for Ring Fit Adventure outages in Japan
Let's start with some stats!
Ring Fit Adventure seems to be a big hit within our community, not to mention the critical acclaim from our very own CJ Andriessen. It turns out that although 59% of our readers never bought the game, of the roughly 40% that did, 36% kept playing it past the initial launch time.
Amazingly several readers have cited results, including JT471 that says he lost 10 pounds already, and Joseph Explosiv who finds that it's a good alternative to going to the gym. Community team member ShadeOfLight plays every day for 15-25 minutes, and finds that "Ring Fit incentivizes doing exercises you would normally steer clear of." It's inspired me to crack my unopened purchase soon!
Evidently it's also been pretty big in Japan, which has led to a number of shortages across the country. Nintendo has just issued a statement noting that they "apologize for any inconvenience caused to customers and dealers who are waiting," and "continue to ship every week, and we will increase the number of shipments toward the end of the year so that as many people as possible can deliver."
It's like Wii Fit all over again! Although this might not directly impact you, it's great to hear how some of the lesser known games of 2019 are doing, amid some of the recent titans like Death Stranding.

Whatcha been playing this week, Destructoid?
It's the weekend, not only that, but for many of our readers it's also Thanksgiving! I'm sure a helluva lot of you are currently loosening your belts (and hopefully tightening your wallets) as the festivities continue. It's been a little quiet around these parts, understandably, so I won't keep you long from your feeding frenzies and your Black Fridays and what have you.
In regards to gaming this week, whenever I've had the opportunity its been All Sindel, All The Time. Early impressions are that she does good damage given the opportunity, and also has some of the most satisfying-to-watch combos in Mortal Kombat 11. Unfortunately, she doesn't have the tools to deal with all situations, and most of her startups are surprisingly long. Early judgement is she's a situational character, who will probably float around the mid-tier... But it's early days, we'll see. Either way, I'm throwing my lot in with her.
And how about you? What games have you been rocking this week/weekend? Perhaps you're using the Holidays to catch up on some of 2019's modern classics, or maybe you've picked up some bargains in the last couple of days. Spare a second to note us below and let everyone in on the action. We love hearing what's yanking your crank, as it were.
Have a wonderful weekend, from all of us at Destructoid.

Black Friday $43 Pokemon Shield and Sword, $169 Switch Lite all ends tonight
We'll make this post quick and easy because of how limited time these deals are. As of writing, you can still pick up a Nintendo Switch Lite for around $170 (plus tax) at Rakuten thanks to their sitewide 20% off Black Friday coupon code (BF20).
This means a Switch Lite bundled with Pokemon Shield or Sword at full price will save you about $43, or you can also pick up a Nintendo Switch Version 2 for around $263 (there was a cheaper deal earlier in the day but it has now gone out of stock).
These deals expire tonight at 11:59pm, though given how Rakuten handle things in the past, they are likely to make a return on Cyber Monday (note though that during this weekend the coupon is unlikely to be ongoing).

Black Friday 2019 Deals: DualShock 4 Controllers for Less Than $40 Right Now
For some reason, video game controllers often sot more than games themselves, a massive investment that you kind of have to budget for, if not taking out a second mortgage just to afford them (I’m looking at you $80 Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons!). Now that Black Friday 2019 has rolled around, one of the absolute best video game deals of the year is available. Amazon is selling a variety of colors of DualShock 4 controller for only $38.99, the best price we’ve seen on the PS4 controller ever. These controllers normally go for a minimum of $60 (if not more, depending on the color option), so this is the time to jump on and get that special colored controller.
Here’s every color DualShock 4 on sales right now:
- Standard Jet Black
- Steel Black
- Blue Camo
- Electric Purple
- Glacier White
- Gold
- Green Camo
- Magma Red
- Midnight Blue
- Red Camo
- Rose Gold
- Titanium Blue
Unfortunately, the translucent Crystal DualShock 4 (my personal favorite of the bunch) doesn’t seem to be in stock anymore (you can purchase one used, if that’s the color you are dead set on), but I did manage to pick up the Rose Gold one to replace one of my wife’s old controllers that was having aiming issues. I promise that the matte sheen of the Rose Gold (and Gold and Titanium Blue) are stunning in person and well worth considering over the old standard black controller that came with your console.
Whether you’ve had a console for a while now, or just picked up one in one of these great Black Friday sales, do yourself a favor and get an extra controller or two. It’s rare that they go on sale, and it’s even rare that they ever go this low. Plus, by this time next year, we’ll be looking to pick up extra DualShock 5 controllers for our PlayStation 5 consoles, and who knows what kind of loans we’ll have to take out to afford those extras?

Mega Man crosses over into Nintendo's mobile realm with Dragalia's Chaos Protocol
It's always great to see Nintendo team up with Mega Man. I mean the (actually) iconic series got its start on the NES, so seeing Mega Man in Smash Bros. warms my heart in a big way. This crossover might not be nearly as impactful, but it's still nice to see Capcom and Nintendo work together in any capacity.
I'm talking about none other than Dragalia Lost, one of Nintendo's more polarizing mobile releases. It's still going over a year later, and now it's getting the aforementioned Blue Bomber crossover. Cleverly, it sees Dr. Wily taking over the in-game universe, with Mega Man teaming up with the game's protagonist to take him down. Mega Man, with his many-colored coats, will be playable, and enemies from his franchise will enter the game.
The event is actually live now, and will run through December 15. Did...Nintendo actually get me to log back into Dragalia Lost for the first time in months? I think so, especially given that the event is thankfully not tied to gacha nonsense.

Blaster Master Zero 2's Copen crossover DLC is free now for a limited time
If you haven't been following the whole new Blaster Master saga and have a penchant for retro games, you might want to listen up.
Inti Creates managed to wrangle the old Sunsoft license for the classic NES game (which in turn wasn't a big hit until it was localized and added a frog), and has been doing an amazing job so far of combining that retro feel with their own unique spin. There's two full games out at this point, and both of them have strings of DLC characters that are free for a limited time, then revert to paid add-ons.
Blaster Master Zero 2 is up, and Copen (a character from the Mighty Gunvolt universe) is free today to celebrate the release of the game on Steam. As is customary, you can head to the eShop listing on your Switch and download the Copen DLC for free when it's released. On Steam, you sadly need to own the game to acquire the DLC.
You have until December 12 of this year to pick Copen up before he becomes a premium download.

The First Four Five Nights at Freddy’s Entries Are Out Today on Consoles
Today, the mainline Five Nights at Freddy’s entries finally make their way to consoles. Five Nights at Freddy’s, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, Five Nights at Freddy’s 3, and Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 will all become available on the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One for the low price of $7.99. For now, this is a digital only release. There is currently no word as to whether a physical launch may arrive at a later date.
A trailer for the console release accompanied the news. See what horrors lie in wait at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza in the video below:
Five Nights at Freddy’s has a simple, yet horrifying premise. Players adopt the role of a security guard at a family-oriented pizza joint. The job comes down to merely monitoring the establishment’s security cameras in an office. Why at night? Apparently, some of the animatronic robots become “unpredictable” during nighttime hours. Instead of hiring a repairman, a new security guard is brought in.
There’s more to it than simply keeping an eye out for strange behavior, however. The amount of electricity at the guard’s disposal is incredibly limited, due to budget cuts and the like. Power running out before the night is through could spell doom for the guard. After all, no power means no security doors or other means of protection. If the animatronics go missing when electricity runs out, players should probably find them on the cameras and work out a way to protect themselves.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 sees a new cast of robots join the fun. The franchise’s third entry is set 30 years after the events of the first two. Now the pizza joint horrors are urban legend, kept alive by Fazbear’s Fright: The Horror Attraction. The final chapter in the series sees players become a child who must survive against the cast of animatronics until 6am.
The console versions have been a long time coming. In early 2016, creator Scott Cawthorn promised such ports were on the horizon. Now that the day has finally come, console players can see what all the fuss is about for themselves.

PlayStation 4 Black Friday deals still happening: cheap PS Plus, $100 off consoles, and games galore
As Thanksgiving dinner ends, so begins Black Friday shopping. A tradition as old as time (or whenever marketers came up with this idea), this time frame appears to be moving earlier and earlier. In fact, from what we can tell most of the Black Friday deals appeared as earlier as Wednesday night.
With Black Friday in full swings, we're now seeing tons of PlayStation 4 deals appearing (and disappearing just as quickly). As of writing, there are three solid PlayStation 4 Pro deals, with the best being an Adorama deal at Rakuten with stacking 20% off code (BF20) to bring the price all the way down to only $240. Even with shipping, that's a significant discount for a PS4 Pro. For PS4 Slim 1TB systems, GameStop is still carrying the "Only on PlayStation" Bundle for $199, whereas retailers such as Walmart has already ran out of stock for online purchase.
In the PS Plus department, if stock is still available by the time you read this - you can scoop up 12-month digital code at Rakuten using the same BF20 coupon code to bring the price all the way down to $35.99, otherwise, a $39.99 deal also exist on eBay, and lastly GMG is still offering 12-month subscription code for $42 with a bonus of 5 free PC games (yes PC games).
For games, tons of deals are available. Highlights are of course Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Red Dead Redemption 2, Borderlands 3, and tons more. To make it easier to browse, we've group the game deals by pricing. As of writing there are 13 games at the $20 price point, 12 games at the $15 price, and 14 titles for $10. For completion, we've also rounded up 10 decent pre-owned deals below. Check back throughout the day as we'll be adding in more deals we se spot them.

26 Years Later, Footage Surfaces Of Sonic The Hedgehog's Infamous Macy's Parade Disaster
Anyone who’s a serious fan of Sonic, or of Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, is probably aware of the 1993 event, in which a Sonic the Hedgehog float became caught in high winds, struck a lamppost and injured two people. The thing is, despite knowing this happened, we didn’t have any surviving video of the incident.

Best VR HMD Black Friday deals to ready up for Half-Life: Alyx
It's Turkey Day and if you're one of those lucky PC gamers who don't have a potato for a system, you may just be shopping for a VR head-mounted display this holiday season - especially because Valve has suddenly decided to start printing money by selling a game they've made (gasp).
As of writing, there is one very decent deal and 3 "just okay" VR deals. The best pick in our opinion is the Samsung Odyssey+ Windows Mixed Reality Headset with controllers for only $229. Most retailers have a similar discount, but our pick would be B&H Photo as they have limited sales tax, fast shipping, and strong customer service support.
Three other deals are this holiday season's common promotion of $50 off the Oculus Rift S PC-Powered VR and the higher end Oculus Quest (the 128GB model is also available), which is a standalone unit and won't require a PC. But the key thing abou tthe Quest is that a recent Oculus Link update will allow you to run it as a wired setup to the PC so you can play Half-Life: Alyx.j
Finally for those with a bigger budget, the HTC Vive Cosmo is also on sale for $100 off at $599. This HMD comes with a total resolution of 2880 x 1700 and plenty more bells and whistles (310-degree tracking, removable front-plate, etc.).
Black Friday VR Deals for PC
- Samsung Odyssey+ HDM Windows Mixed Reality Headset — $229 (list price $499)
- Oculus Rift S VR HMD + Touch Controller — $349 (list price $399)
- Oculus Quest 64GB VR Headset + Touch Controllers + Vader Immortal — $399
- HTC VIVE Cosmos VR Headset & System — $599 (list price $700)
At the end of the day, the Odyssey+ is an older setup with less tracking camera, but we think at $229 it's a less risky investment if you're unsure about VR gaming.

Our Favorite Cosplay From BlizzCon 2019
BlizzCon 2019 had a different feel to previous years, as big game announcements shared the weekend with protests against the company’s political actions. One thing that remained constant, though, was the quality of cosplay that fans brought to the show.

It looks like Broly (DBS) will be hitting Dragon Ball FighterZ next week
According to the newest edition of Japanese magazine Weekly Jump! it appears that the next behemoth heading to Bandai Namco's Dragon Ball FighterZ, Broly (DBS), will be arriving in-game next week, December 5 to be exact.
This latest roster addition to the great tag-fighter is a variant of the character taken from the 2018 anime Dragon Ball Super: Broly. After being exiled as a an infant from Planet Vegeta, Broly returns as an adult, stacked to the rafters with muscle and packing a bad attitude to match. A recently-released trailer shows the big boy in action, to understandably devastating effect.

Inti Creates is holding its own Switch and Steam holiday sale, with Gunvolt at the center
Did you miss that Nintendo and Steam are running holiday sales? Well, you probably caught that bit of news, but buried within those mountains of deals are a few lesser known games worth paying attention to.
Inti Creates has announced that they're holding their own mini sale within the confines of both of those events, and the main event is clearly their Azure Striker Gunvolt series. The double-pack of the first two games is 50% off on Switch (now $20), as is Curse of the Moon (the retro spinoff they did for the Bloodstained team), which brings it down to $5: an absolute steal.
The pair of Blaster Master Zero games are also good fun, and Mighty Gunvolt Burst for five bucks is another steal. The new Gunvolt Chronicles spinoff is only 10% off but worth playing at some point (maybe next year if you're on the fence? That game will age well). On Steam you can also find a few deals for the Gal*Gun series if you were ever on the fence about that one.
These sales will run through December 3 for Steam and December 4 for Switch.

It's Thanksgiving! What are you thankful for this year in video games?
It's me, your favourite British member of the Destructoid team, here to offer good tidings to our community for an event I'm not personally celebrating. For it is Thanksgiving, and across America many will be enjoying an extended holiday to celebrate... umm... something to do with pilgrims and the inaugural WWE Survivor Series.
Ok, perhaps I'm not the best person to be talking about such calendar events. Still, I've had some college, so I am aware that folk are supposed to - checks notes - "give thanks" during this period. So we want to hear what you are particularly thankful for in regards to 2019's video games.
It could be a particular title you've played all year, an old favourite you've rediscovered, or an event you shared with friends, anything goes. We'd love to hear about any personal happiness gaming has brought you this year, so drop us a note below and let's get a love-fest going.
