DotEmu has announced that LizardCube's Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap has sold nearly half a million copies since its launch back in 2017 on PC and consoles. Furthermore, the Sega Master System remake will also be coming to mobile platforms later this month.
Originally released on the SMS back in 1989, Wonder Boy III is a still-great action RPG which sees the retro hero don various anthropomorphic guises in order to travel the land and defeat a series of evil dragons. It's a very earlier example of the non-linear exploration style that had been popularised by Metroid on the NES a few years earlier.
