Stellar Blade PS5 Gets Another Surprise Free Content Update

Stellar Blade free update

Stellar Blade PS5 players have been surprised with a second free content update within a week. While last week’s update added new quests and gifts, today’s update expands Stellar Blade’s story with three new epilogues — one for each of the game’s three endings.

Patch notes for Stellar Blade PS5 free content update (September 30, 2025)

Depending on the ending you receive, the epilogues will show the lives of Eve and the people of Xion following the final events of Stellar Blade. This is an interesting addition, and makes us wonder if Shift Up is slowly setting the stage for the previously confirmed sequel.

For PS5 players, the rest of the update doesn’t do much as it mostly targets the PC version. Nevertheless, here are the patch notes:

  • When using Photo Mode via Odyssey 3D Hub, screenshots will now be saved in the “Screenshots” folder located in the Stellar Blade executable directory.
  • Fixed an issue during the “Strange Signal” request where players could not interact with the network device in the Scrap Yard after completing the Orbital Elevator story, preventing quest progression.
  • Various other bug fixes.

Shift Up has said that it’s working on several free content updates for Stellar Blade, so expect more surprises in the future.

New PS5 Slim Fixes Issue That Damaged Some Past Models

Revised new PS5 Slim model

Sony recently revised the PS5 Slim and quietly launched a new model that features a smaller SSD. However, there is some good news: the new version fixes a design flaw that resulted in liquid metal potentially spilling when the PS5 is placed vertically — something Sony acknowledged and rectified with the PS5 Pro.

New PS5 Slim model features improved liquid metal cooling like PS5 Pro

Reports of PS5’s liquid metal cooling potentially harming systems when placed vertically first surfaced in 2023, but were largely dismissed until a teardown of the PS5 Pro revealed that the issue was quietly fixed.

The PS5 Pro’s heat sink block features ridges of sorts that contact the liquid metal and help to keep it evenly distributed over the APU chip, preventing a spillover. It wasn’t until April 2025 that Sony admitted that it had considered the issue when designing the PS5 Pro.

Now, a teardown of the revised PS5 Slim model reveals that the company has used the same liquid cooling tech for the base console, which is good news, especially for those who live in hot regions.

This news comes to us via tech YouTuber Austin Evans, who also revealed that the revised PS5 Slim drops the previous model’s glossy finish in favor of a matte finish. You can watch the full teardown below:

PS5 Gets Remakes of Some of the Best PS2, PS3 Games

Yakuza series PS5 remakes

Following recent leaks, Sega has announced PS5 remakes of some of its best PS2, PS3 action adventure games. The first three Yakuza games as well as 2015’s Yakuza 0 are all headed to PS5. While Yakuza Kiwami 1 & 2, and Yakuza 0 are already playable on PS5 via backwards compatibility with PS4, they’re getting native PS5 ports for the first time. Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties is a brand-new release.

PS5 remakes of PS2, PS3 Yakuza games releasing sooner than you think

Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2, which are remakes of the first two Yakuza games, will release natively on the PS5 on December 8. A physical edition with both games as well as a physical Yakuza Series 20th Anniversary bundle, which includes Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, will also be available.

Speaking of Yakuza 0 Director’s Cut, yes, the 2015 PS3 and PS4 game is also headed to PS5 natively on December 8. Unfortunately, however, there won’t be an upgrade path for those who already own the original release. Additionally, saves cannot be carried over.

The Director’s Cut includes “deeper insight into key incidents and character backstories with never-before-seen cutscenes” and Red Light Raid multiplayer that’ll be added in a post-launch update.

Last but not least, today’s biggest announcement is Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, a PS5 and PS4 remake of Yakuza 3 that leaked last week. The game will launch on February 12, 2026.

Dark Ties is a separate game that’s included in the package. It’s described as a “brand-new tale of Yoshitaka Mine from Yakuza 3.” An official overview and trailer are as follows:

Having once led a successful startup company, he plunged himself into the dark world of the yakuza by choice after losing everything. Left with an empty heart, the pursuit to find true bonds drives him forward once again in a dramatic journey colored by exhilarating boxing-based combat, and a variety of engaging side experiences.

Two men will walk different paths that converge to shake the very foundations of fate.

Major PS6 Exclusive Game Gets First Look and Information

PS6 exclusive game Physint

We’ve finally been given our first look at a promising PS6 exclusive game that was announced back in 2024. Kojima Productions’ Physint is billed as a “next-generation action espionage game,” and we now have a little bit more information about it.

Kojima’s PS6 espionage game Physint being published by Sony

First things first, here’s Physint’s key art:

Hideo Kojima revealed that the upcoming title will star Charlee Fraser, Ma Dong-seok, and Minami Hamabe. He didn’t say who will play the protagonist pictured in the key art, but we’ve seen speculation that it’ll be Robert Pattinson. Frankly, we’re not sure where these speculations are coming from.

Kojima brought up the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike once again, blaming it for casting delays. Physint is still in the casting process, which makes us wonder if it’ll release on the PS5 or not. We previously expected it to be a cross-gen PS5/PS6 game, at the very least.

Last but not least, Kojima is currently working with folks who he collaborated with on Death Stranding 2 to ensure Minami Hamabe’s likeness is accurately captured in Physint. Here’s a brief glimpse of what we’ve been shown:

It’ll be quite a while before we properly see Physint, but what do our readers think of it so far?

New PS Plus September Game Already Has a Shutdown Date

PS Plus game

A PS Plus Extra September 2025 game is already scheduled to have its servers shut down, per a notice on its publisher’s website. It’s not unusual for annual/sports multiplayer games to have a limited shelf life, so those jumping into WWE 2K25 (PS5, PS4) — whether through PS Plus or a full purchase — should take note that they have 1.5 years to enjoy its online elements.

Wrestling game WWE 2K25 joined PS Plus 6 months after launch, and we can see why

WWE 2K25 launched back in March, so players were a tad surprised when it headlined PS Plus Extra’s September catalog additions. Well, now you know why. The game is scheduled to be shut down on March 14, 2027.

1.5 years is plenty of time to pop all those PS5, PS4 trophies and aim for 100% completion, though!

On a serious note, do keep the shutdown date in mind if you plan to purchase WWE 2K25 following its exit from PS Plus, or any of the following 2K games scheduled for shutdown:

  • NBA 2K24 (31 December, 2025)
  • MyTEAM Mobile 2K24 (31 December, 2025)
  • NBA 2K25 (31 December, 2026)
  • MyTEAM Mobile 2K25 (31 December, 2026)
  • The Golf Club 2019 (October 30, 2025)
  • PGA TOUR 2K21 (October 30, 2025)
  • PGA TOUR 2K23 (February 28, 2027)
  • TopSpin 2K25 (31 December, 2026)
  • WWE 2K24 (January 5, 2026)

PS Plus Premium October 2025 Classic Game Possibly Leaked

PS Plus October

A PS Plus Premium classic game, possibly out in October 2025, has been leaked via a trophy list that appeared on Sony‘s servers. PS4 trophies for 2007’s Tomb Raider: Anniversary were picked up by a trophy tracking website, confirming an impending launch.

Tomb Raider: Anniversary expected to join PS Plus October lineup alongside stand-alone PS5, PS4 launch

Tomb Raider: Anniversary was released on the PS2, PSP, and PS3. It’s currently unclear if it’s the PS2 version that’ll release on the PS5 and PS4, or the PSP version. What we can be sure about is a stand-alone launch on the PS Store alongside a PS Plus release.

As for the trophies, only the PS4 list has been picked up by TrueTrophies.com, but we’re confident that a PS5 list will follow. There are a total of 26 trophies, including the Platinum, and they’re all quite straightforward.

Most of the trophies will be unlocked by completing the story, with a few reserved for random tasks and collectibles.

The next batch of PS Plus Extra and Premium games won’t be revealed until mid-October, so we might have to wait a while for an official announcement. As usual, we’ll update our readers when we have more information.

Free ‘Limited Edition’ PSN Avatars Being Given Out by Sony

Free PSN avatars

Sony is offering a free “limited edition” PSN avatar set to players who participate in a new campaign between now and October 27, 2025. If you haven’t guessed from the featured image already, the promotion celebrates the digital release of the Until Dawn movie.

How to claim free Until Dawn PSN avatars by October 2025

I’m not one to click on promotional emails, but this one caught my attention, for some reason. “To celebrate the digital release of Until Dawn, the movie inspired by the PlayStation game, we’re giving away a limited-edition avatar set featuring visuals from the Until Dawn movie that can be used on the PlayStation Network,” the email reads.

In order to receive the voucher code, players must download the Sony Pictures Core app from the Media home screen on PS5 or the PS Store on PS4. You will then be prompted to sign up via the campaign website to receive a code for the avatars, which can be redeemed on the PS Store.

In case you’re wondering what the avatars look like, here’s a preview Sony enclosed in the email:

Personally, I will continue using my original Until Dawn avatars from the PS4 era. I’m not sure I want to download the Sony Pictures Core app just for these, but PS Plus Premium users should already have the app installed for their movie bonuses, and can simply sign up to receive a voucher.

Xbox’s Best Game May Come to PS5 Sooner Than We Thought

Xbox game Microsoft Flight Simulator on PS5

The best Xbox game is finally coming to PS5 as soon as next month, according to a reliable leaker. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is all but confirmed for the PS5 at this point, but fans were left guessing a release window. If the rumor is accurate, we expect an official announcement next week during the Tokyo Game Show 2025.

Acclaimed Xbox game Microsoft Flight Simulator reportedly coming to PS5 in November 2025

This leak comes from Polish website PPE (via ResetEra), which has a very reliable source in the retail business with a good track record. According to them, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is targeting a November 2025 release on the PS5.

The website further claims that the game will receive a disc version for Sony’s console, but whether we’ll get a license on the disc or the full game remains to be seen. Speaking of discs, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is also expected to launch physically.

The next major event where Microsoft will be present is Tokyo Game Show, which will kick off on Thursday, September 25. We’re crossing our fingers for an announcement then!

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was developed by Asobo Studio, the developer behind the acclaimed A Plague Tale series.

Highly Anticipated PS5, PS4 Game Surprise Drops Free Demo

Free PS5 game demo for Little Nightmares 3

PS5 and PS4 players are being treated to a free demo for a highly anticipated October 2025 game. This morning, Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco Entertainment stealth-launched Little Nightmares 3 demo on the PS Store, confirming last week’s leak.

Free demo for horror adventure game Little Nightmares 3 out now on PS5, PS4

The demo is completely free, meaning you don’t need PS Plus to check it out. Players can try the game for roughly 30 minutes and get a glimpse into its atmosphere, traps, enemies, etc.

Progress will not carry over to the full game.

“Little Nightmares III is a standalone story – you don’t need to have played the previous titles, though those who have may notice a few unsettling echoes,” reads an official description. “Take control of Low and Alone, two best friends trapped in the Spiral: a cluster of dystopian lands twisted by delusion. To escape, they must rely on each other and survive a world where nothing is what it seems… all while a greater threat watches from the shadows.”

Little Nightmares 3 is the first game in the series to offer online co-op with a friend or solo play with an AI companion. The game will release on October 10.

PS4 System Update 13.00 Quietly Released

PS4 system software update

Sony quietly rolled out PS4 system softwate update 13.00 alongside today’s major PS5 firmware update that added new features. Unlike the PS5, however, the PS4 didn’t get anything noteworthy, which is to be expected at this point in the console’s life cycle.

PS4 system software update 13.00 patch notes (September 17, 2025)

“We’ve improved the messages and usability on some screens,” reads the official notice on PlayStation’s website.

This time, there are no “security” fixes, which is another way of saying that Sony’s still combating jailbreaking and hacking. The last security update was released back in July with version 12.52.

Over the last week, Sony rolled out quite a few firmware updates, but the company only chose to detail the PS5 system update. As previously reported, both the Pulse Elite headset and Pulse Explore earbuds were updated alongside the PlayStation Link USB adapter.

Sony still hasn’t explained what these firmware updates were all about, but some players are reporting fewer disconnection issues following the patches. However, there aren’t enough reports to come to that conclusion, and we think that the updates may have something to do with Sony introducing audio management features on PC for both accessories.

As a reminder, bundled with the new PS5 system software is a new DualSense/DualSense Edge firmware.

At the time of this writing, there are no new updates for PSVR2, PS Portal, or PS3 (yes, it’s still being updated).

PS5 Getting Hit Open World Game 3 Years After Xbox Launch

Valheim
(Credit: Coffee Stain Publishing)

Coffee Stain Publishing and developer Iron Gate announced that their hit Viking survival game, Valheim, is coming to PS5. The game was originally released in 2021 for PC, and then on Xbox in 2023.

Although a specific release date for Valheim’s PS5 release was not announced, it was confirmed that it would release for PS5 in 2026. It is currently available in Early Access for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Linux, and Mac.

What is Valheim?

Valheim is a survival game where up to 10 players build and fight to survive in a procedurally-generated version of the tenth realm in Norse mythology. Since its launch on PC in 2021, players seem to be enjoying their time with the game, which has sold over 12 million copies. On Steam, reviews are at “Very Positive” with more than 477,000 reviews.

“We’re thrilled for Valheim to soon reach even more players with the upcoming launch on PlayStation”, said Henrik Törnqvist, co-founder of Iron Gate. “Bringing both new and longtime players to a new platform allows even more people to explore the world we’ve worked so hard to build, and we can’t wait to hear their stories as they’re able to dive into their Viking adventures.”

Iron Gate regularly updates Valheim, bringing new content to the purgatorial realm. The most recent major update, Call To Arms, featured a combat system update, as well as new weapons, armor sets, crafting materials, and enemies. The other major updates, which include Hearth & Home, Mistlands, and Ashlands, featured improvements to survival and base-building mechanics, and new biomes to traverse.

Coffee Stain doesn’t just publish games. It is also responsible for other popular video games, including Goat Simulator and Satisfactory.

Are you excited to play Valheim on PS5 next year? Let us know all your thoughts in the comments below.

Sony’s First PS6 Launch Exclusive Game Possibly Leaked

Venom possibly PS6 launch exclusive game

It looks like a first-party PS6 launch exclusive game has leaked, if two new reports are anything to go by. The existence of Insomniac Games’ Venom “spin-off” was first confirmed when the developer suffered a massive ransomware attack in 2023. However, there were some speculations that the game may have been canceled. Apparently not.

Insomniac’s leaked Venom game could be targeting PS6 launch like Miles Morales

Over the weekend, an X account dedicated to all things Marvel tweeted that Venom, which is purportedly a bridge between Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and 3, is now slated for release after Wolverine. The original plan, according to leaked internal documents, was for Venom to release before Wolverine, but that schedule has reportedly changed.

The leaker went on to “guess” a release window of 2027.

Not long afterwards, MP1st — who’s proven to be fairly reliable with leaks — published a report corroborating these claims. According to the website’s sources, Wolverine will release in 2026, and Venom will release sometime in 2027 at the earliest.

This has led to speculations that, like Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Venom will be a first-party console exclusive targeting PS6’s launch. That doesn’t mean Venom won’t be available for PS5, though. Miles Morales released on both PS5 and PS4, with its release coinciding with the launch of the PS5 in November 2020.

PS Plus Essential October Games Will Drop Later Than Usual

PS Plus October

With the next PS Plus Extra and Premium games revealed, players are looking forward to the announcement of PS Plus Essential October 2025 monthly free games. However, this time, we may have to wait a tad longer than usual for both the lineup’s announcement and release.

When will PS Plus Essential October 2025 monthly free games go live?

PS Plus Essential games follow the original release pattern, i.e., dropping on the first Tuesday of each month. This year, September 30 falls on a Tuesday, which means that October’s monthly freebies will go live on the following Tuesday, October 7.

As for the announcement, Sony typically reveals the games on the last Wednesday of each month, so we’ll hear something by September 24 at the latest. However, the company is celebrating 15 years of PS Plus and the 30th anniversary of PlayStation this year, and does sometimes announce games sooner than usual, so we might hear something before the 24th. Just don’t get your hopes up.

Players are especially looking forward to October’s Essential lineup because the Extra and Premium catalog is a little bare-bones this time around. Although it’s headlined by the recently released WWE 2K25, only one classic is being added to Premium/Deluxe alongside seven Extra games.

Fingers crossed for a fun Essential lineup!

PlayStation Devs Under Fire for Charlie Kirk Murder Response

PlayStation devs under fire over Charlie Kirk comments

At least two PlayStation Studios employees are under fire for their response to news of Charlie Kirk‘s assassination. The 31-year-old political activist was murdered in broad daylight this week, sending shockwaves around the world.

One of PlayStation Studios devs reportedly fired for mocking Charlie Kirk assassination

One of the employees is senior Sucker Punch Productions artist Drew Harrison, who joked on Bluesky that she hopes the shooter’s name is Mario “so that Luigi knows his bro got his back.” This post refers to alleged killer Luigi Mangione, who is accused of murdering United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson last December.

In subsequent posts, Harrison confirmed that people had contacted her employer over her comments and claimed that she had been fired. Sucker Punch Productions has not commented on the matter at the time of this writing, but Harrison has since updated her LinkedIn to note that her 10-year tenure at the studio has come to an end.

Separately, an Insomniac Games character artist allegedly reposted an image on Bluesky that seems to refer to Kirk as a “Nazi.” They later removed their post, but screenshots of it are circulating online.

Insomniac Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment have not issued any statements on the matter either.

Free PS5 Demo Leaked for Highly-Anticipated Upcoming Game

Free PS5 game demo for Little Nightmares 3

It looks like a long-awaited PS5, PS4 game will be getting a free demo ahead of its October launch, if a leak is to be believed. Supermassive Games and Bandai Namco Entertainment’s Little Nightmares 3 doesn’t release until October, but players might get their hands on it as soon as next week.

Horror adventure game Little Nightmares 3 reportedly getting free PS5 demo soon

Spotted by Reddit user Thegoodgamer32, it looks like a YouTube channel previewing Little Nightmares 3 ended up disclosing the existence of a free demo ahead of an official announcement. According to a screenshot of the transcription, it’ll be available on Wednesday, September 17.

Little Nightmares 3 will release on both the PS5 and PS4, but we can’t yet confirm if the demo will be available on last-gen consoles or not. Some developers tend to skip PS4, so we’ll have to wait for an official announcement. However, rest assured, PS5 players should be able to try Little Nightmares 3 soon, and without the need for PS Plus Premium.

It won’t be too surprising if this report is accurate. Both Little Nightmares 1 and 2 currently have free demos available on the PS Store. It makes sense for Bandai Namco to add one for the next game as well.

PS Store Refunds Issued for Upcoming PS5 RPG After Backlash

PS5 action RPG Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

PS Store users are being issued refunds for an upcoming PS5 action RPG after backlash over its paywalled content. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 came under fire after it emerged that two in-game clans — a core part of the game — were locked behind the Premium Edition or the separately available “Shadows and Silk” DLC pack.

PS5 action RPG Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 DLC controversy explained

Developer The Chinese Room and publisher Paradox Interactive claimed that the $22 DLC pack was never planned for the base game, and was being prepared as additional content for the future. However, given that players’ choice of clans impacts the experience, this response didn’t go down well.

Now, Bloodlines 2’s PS Store copies are being refunded as Paradox is making unspecified changes that’ll be detailed on September 17. “Big changes take time, and we want to do this right,” the company tweeted.

Players have been told that they’ll have a chance to preorder Bloodlines 2 again before launch on October 21. However, current preorders will be refunded starting today.

Bloodlines 2 has been in development for quite some time, and suffered a number of delays. The game was originally being developed by Hardsuit Labs, which was removed from the project in 2021. Since then, Bloodlines 2 has been in development at The Chinese Room, the studio behind Dear Esther and Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture.

PS Store Users Fall for Big New Scam, Warn Others

PS Store scam

Just when we thought Sony was finally improving the PS Store, another major scam has hit the storefront, conning players out of their money. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a shady developer clone popular PC game Schedule 1, but this is the first time we’ve seen a listing with artwork that looks like it’s ripped from the original.

Another Schedule 1 PS5 scam comes to PS Store

Schedule 1 isn’t available on the PS5 or PS4, and there’s been no confirmation that it ever will be. But its popularity has encouraged numerous clones on the PS Store, one of which successfully fooled players back in April. By July, Sony had nuked the developer and its games from the PS Store.

However, sometime over the last month, a studio called “Idan Rooze trading as IdanG” published its own Schedule 1 clone with art that’s strikingly similar to the original game’s. Once again, players are falling for it, and some are now being denied refunds.

Numerous Reddit threads have cropped up over the last week, with players warning others not to fall for the scam.

“I guess I should have checked reviews before buying; this has been an unfortunate loss,” wrote one player. “I was tricked by the image.”

“Yeah, I fell for this one, but Sony did too,” wrote another. “The title and art are ripped straight from the real game.”

In yet another thread, one confused player shared two separate Schedule 1 clone listings and claimed that their Google search to confirm which one is authentic was fruitless. Luckily, others managed to warn them just in time that the real Schedule 1 isn’t available on PS5 or PS4.

Players are reminded that Sony has made the process for requesting PS Store refunds a tad easier, so if you’ve fallen for a fake listing, check out our step-by-step guide on how to obtain a refund.

PS5 Pro Enhancements Confirmed for Promising 007 Game

007 First Light PS5 Pro

Sony has revealed an overview of 007 First Light PS5 Pro enhancements. The promising new IO Interactive game recently got its own PlayStation State of Play, which was very well-received by fans. Although 007 First Light’s PS Store page doesn’t carry the Pro Enhanced tag yet, the PlayStation website has shared some of the enhancements.

007 First Light PS5 Pro enhancements including 60 FPS Quality Mode

Here’s what PS5 Pro players can expect, in Sony’s words:

  • Optimized Console Performance: Enjoy the action of 007 First Light at 60 FPS in Quality Mode.
  • Advanced Ray Tracing: Experience next-level realism with ray-traced reflections, shadows, and high-quality global illumination as you explore this stunning world of espionage.
  • PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR): Get super sharp image clarity on your 4K TV using AI-enhanced resolution for ultra-high definition play with astonishing detail.

Sony just seems to be scratching the surface here. We expect more details from IO Interactive, like what the Quality and Performance modes will entail, in the near future.

Like many, we like what we’ve seen of 007 First Light thus far, and can’t wait to see more.

The game will release on March 27, 2026, and all PS Store preorders will come with 007 First Light Deluxe Edition at no additional cost.

Missing PS3 Premium Avatars Returning to PS5, PS App

Premium PS3 avatars on PS5 and PS App
Image: Sony Interactive Entertainment

Here’s something we weren’t expecting to see today: premium PS3 avatars that randomly disappeared from the PS5 and PS App back in June have returned for a number of users. Those who’ve been part of the PlayStation ecosystem since the PS3 era understand the sentimental value of those avatars, and why it’s exciting to have them back.

PS3 premium avatars mysteriously reappeared on PS5, PS App following PSN outage

The avatars began reappearing following yesterday’s partial PSN outage, although I don’t think the two events are related. For the uninitiated, back in the day, Sony used to sell PSN avatars via the PS Store in addition to the free ones, and allowed players to carry them over to the subsequent generations.

However, back in June, PS5 players could no longer use their PS3 avatars via the console or the PS App, causing concern. Sony didn’t officially respond to any queries for the past three months, but its PS Support agents misled players — as usual — into believing that those avatars were gone from modern platforms for good. That’s not the case.

The disappearance never made any sense to us anyway since PSN profiles are not limited to one generation of consoles.

If the PS3 avatars haven’t reappeared for you yet, wait a little.

PS5, PS4 Adventure Game Being Delisted, Get Free Upgrade Now

Free PS5 upgrade

A 2023 adventure game is in the process of being delisted from the PS Store, and owners of the PS4 version have one last chance to claim its free PS5 upgrade. Outright Games has announced that it’s replacing its festive title The Grinch: Christmas Adventures with a new edition that’ll replace the current listing.

The Grinch: Christmas Adventures PS4 owners won’t be able to claim free PS5 upgrade after it’s delisted

As is the case with most of these replacements, the original version of The Grinch: Christmas Adventures will be completely removed from the PS Store, meaning that even if you already own the PS4 version, you won’t be able to snag the free PS5 upgrade. This applies to owners of both the disc and digital versions.

The Grinch: Christmas Adventures has already been delisted from several online storefronts, but its listing is still live on the PS Store at the time of this writing. However, the $39.99 game is expected to be removed sometime today.

The game’s new version — the Merry & Mischievous Edition — will come with additional content, including six extra levels, a speedrun mode, new moves for Max, an in-game store, and new presents and rewards, among other things.

Check out a trailer below:

Best PS4 Themes Leaving PS Store, Get Them With These Codes

PS Store codes for Ghost of Tsushima PS4 themes

Three of the best PS4 dynamic themes will soon no longer be available to download as their PS Store codes are set to expire. Back in 2022, Sucker Punch Productions added a set of beautiful Ghost of Tsushima dynamic themes on the PS Store, which can only be claimed via limited-time codes that will become invalid ahead of Ghost of Yotei‘s launch.

PS Store claim codes for Ghost of Tsushima PS4 themes expiring soon

The following codes will expire on October 3, 2025. I can confirm that they are still working at the time of this writing, so use them while you can:

Americas: 5FM9-5LN6-FCM2

Europe: 4PNM-4RNP-9C92

Asia: J7CG-8DNC-BN6K

Japan: 8FLX-26NE-D9AA

Korea: GHGR-L3N9-3DTQ

Folks in Australia and New Zealand should try using the European code.

Sucker Punch Productions shared these codes two years after Ghost of Tsushima’s (and PS5’s) launch for those who missed out on the themes when they were originally released. For some reason, they have since been scrubbed from PlayStation’s website.

Yes, we know these codes are pointless for PS5 players, but we have a small glimmer of hope that our beloved PS4 themes will work on PS6 (Sony must have heard our cries by now).

Ghost of Yotei has gone gold and will release on October 2, 2025.

Upcoming PS5 Exclusive Might Be in Serious Trouble

PS5 exclusive Fairgames

Another major PS5 console exclusive appears to be in development hell, as we continue to receive one disappointing update after another. Although there’s been no announcement from Sony, fans have discovered that “thrilling” heist experience Fairgames has just lost its game director.

PS5 exclusive Fairgames has lost both studio founder and game director

Fairgames is one of Sony’s ambitious live service projects that survived recent cuts and cancellations that affected nearly a dozen games. But we saw the first signs of trouble when its developer, Haven Studios, lost founder Jade Raymond.

It’s widely assumed that Raymond was ousted after a Bloomberg report revealed that her departure followed Fairgames’ external testing, which was poorly received. Sony only acknowledged Raymond’s departure after the company was contacted for comment.

As spotted by a Reddit user over the weekend, Haven Studio game director Daniel Drapeau ended a 4.5-year run at Sony in August, and is now working at WB Games. Considering Fairgames was expected in 2026, this certainly isn’t a positive update. Not only did the game fail external testing, but it also lost both its studio founder and game director in quick succession.

Recently, a rumor about Fairgames’ cancellation was debunked, but at this point, we wouldn’t be surprised if that actually ends up happening.

Last Chance to Claim Great PS Plus Free Games to Keep Forever

PS Plus free games

PS Plus users have another day to claim three great games for free and keep them in their libraries for good, if they haven’t already. As the September 2025 Essential monthly games go live on Tuesday, the August free games lineup will depart the service for good.

PS Plus Essential September 2025 monthly free games go live on Tuesday, the 2nd

August was another fantastic month for subscribers of the most basic PS Plus tier, who were treated to two great months in a row. In July, we got Diablo IV, Jusant, and The King of Fighters XV. And in August, we got Lies of P, Day Z, and My Hero One’s Justice 2.

Unfortunately, the streak ends now for some. Although September brings another set of great games, some players weren’t too thrilled to see a 2021 game — Psychonauts 2 — headlining the lineup. However, we encourage subscribers to give it a chance. Viewfinder is also another great addition, even if it’s not the AAA game that you wanted.

The September Essential games will go live at noon local time tomorrow. As usual, we’ll update our readers when the games begin rolling out.

What do our readers think of the September lineup?
