Koch Primetime Gaming Stream Showcase Announced, Saints Row 5 and Dead Island 2 Reveals Possible
Koch Media has announced that it will be hosting a Koch Primetime Gaming Stream, where it will announce new information about upcoming game releases. The company, which owns the Saints Row, Dead Island, and recently acquired TimeSplitters IPs, will be hosting the event ahead of E3 on June 11, 2021, from 12 pm PDT or 9 pm CEST, as part of Summer Game Fest.
The Koch Primetime Gaming Stream will be streamed via Twitch, through an account mysteriously named weknowsomethingudontknow. The Twitch stream will also be viewable through a similarly-named website owned by Koch Media. Suffice to say, the naming practically confirms that there will be some sort of new game reveal. What game will be revealed, however, is yet to be seen.
We do know that the next installment of Saints Row has been in development at THQ Nordic for quite some time. There were reports and even a few leaks that told fans of the franchise that the next game would likely be revealed sometime in 2020. While it’s already 2021, this timeline of events does make it fairly likely that THQ Nordic is ready to talk about the upcoming sequel.
Another possible reveal is the return of Dead Island 2. Developer Dambuster Studios reportedly put up job postings for designers to work on the zombie survival game as late as 2020. The Dead Island franchise is yet another brand that Koch Media has stated as “very important” to the company, though the revolving door of studios that have worked on the franchise previously says otherwise. Meanwhile, the original creators of the series, Techland, have recently announced the release date of their newest game Dying Light 2. If Deep Silver does decide to announce new information on the game, it’s going to face some stiff competition.
Finally, TimeSplitters has also been brought up as a possible new game reveal, due to the recent reformation of Free Radical Design under Deep Silver. However, this one is less likely due to the fact that studio head Steve Ellis has stated that development has not begun for the upcoming TimeSplitters sequel.
The Koch Primetime Gaming Stream will air June 11, 2021, from 12 pm PDT/9 pm CEST, as part of Summer Game Fest.

Knockout City’s 10-Day Trial Is Over, but You Can Still Play for Free up to Level 25
The 10-day free trial period for multiplayer dodgeball brawler, Knockout City, has come to an end. However, Velan Studios and Electronic Arts have replaced the trial period with a free demo that allows players to level up to street rank 25, following which they can carry their progress over to the full game should they wish to fork out the $19.99 required to purchase it.
Block Party is over, but new players to Knockout City can still start brawlin’ for free!
If your friends are just joining us, they’ll be able to play for free and level up to Street Rank 25 before purchasing the game. That’s also enough game time to teach them to pass the ball. pic.twitter.com/aWjPjKS0ES— Knockout City (@knockoutcity) May 30, 2021
Make sure to check our in-depth review for more on Knockout City. PlayStation LifeStyle’s Chandler Wood lauded the game for its unique concept and polished mechanics but noted that there’s still room for improvement, which won’t be a problem with ongoing support and updates.
For the uninitiated, here’s an official overview of the title:
Whether it’s three-versus-three, four-versus-four, or free-for-all quick matches in Street Play, competitively ranked games in League Play or a hosted experience in a Private Match, the fight to take down rival Crews takes many forms. In Knockout City, players start every match on a level playing field and need to rely on skill to dominate the competition. A solid Crew is also the difference between dishing out punishment and taking it. The game is easy to pick up and play, but practice is key to mastering positioning, timing and teamwork for dodgeBRAWL dominance.
Knockout City features cross-play across all platforms.

PS5 Exclusive Destruction AllStars Getting Online Bots Due to Low Player Count
Lucid Games’ vehicular combat title, Destruction AllStars, didn’t release to much fanfare despite being part of the PlayStation Plus lineup at launch. Four months on, the game appears to be struggling to maintain an active player base, requiring the introduction of online bots to aid matchmaking.
Over on Reddit, Lucid Games outlined a number of incoming features including AI bots with the following explanation:
With a community the size of Destruction AllStars, spread out across the world we do have peak times and low times of player activity for online matchmaking.
(The peaks being around UTC 4pm – 10pm weekdays and UTC 2:00pm until 1:00am on the weekends)
We want to ensure that matches are filled to capacity with as many real players as possible, but when missing X amount of players when queuing for a match, AI bots will take the remaining places. The exception to this is Blitz, as a competitive mode, Blitz will never feature Bots.
In addition to the above, Destruction AllStars is set to receive Global Parties, which will allow players to group up with friends and queue for any solo or team mode. According to the developer, Global Parties feature was being looked into for quite some, but had “few dependencies” before it could be rolled out.
Last but not least, a Playlist feature will be introduced in due course with the aim of making the selection and matching for favorite game modes easier. Lucid Games will release more details about Playlists and how they will work in the near future.

Build the University of Your Dreams With Two Point Campus, Brought to You by Two Point Hospital Devs
The Microsoft Store ended up leaking yet another game ahead of its reveal. This time, it’s university management game Two Point Campus, brought to you by the folks behind Two Point Hospital and published by SEGA. Full list of platforms and release information will be shared via an official reveal.
Two Point Campus will let players build and manage a higher education establishment – from its building to its academia. Students will be offered unique courses, including Knight School and Gastronomy.
An official overview is as follows:
It’s time to spin academia on its head! Got a yearning for learning? Or just keen to build an educational masterpiece? Campus is jam-packed with new creative tools to help you build the university of your dreams.
For the first time, build in the great outdoors as you develop your own delightfully educational campus environment, housing the top teaching facilities in the land. Whether you prefer building on simple foundations, or placing every tree, you can build the university you want.
Lay down pathways with new easy-to-use tools. Plant glorious collections of outdoor flora. Place benches, fountains, sculptures, hedgerows—even picket fences. The only limit is your imagination (and your in-game bank balance).
But, of course, it wouldn’t be a Two Point game without a twist. Rather than typical academic fare, students in Two Point County enjoy a range of wild and wonderful courses: from Knight School (hey, we all have to learn jousting at some point in our lives), to the salivatory Gastronomy, where your students will build mouth-watering concoctions like giant pizzas and enormous pies.
We’ll update our readers when we have more information.

Oh look, it's a Switch Pro Amazon listing, amid more rumors of its imminent announcement
Switch Pro rumors are on overdrive.
I mean...Nintendo rumor mongering is kinda always hyperactive. But with outlets like Bloomberg getting on the train this year, it's been a little more interesting than just random Twitter insiders saying "it's coming" every month and then correctly "predicting" a first-party game announcement.
Amid several rumors from the game writing circle that Nintendo plans to announce the Switch Pro soonish (even before E3!), Bloomberg reports that the Switch Pro could come "as soon as September." The newest info alleges that the Pro unit will actually "replace" the original (with it being "phased out over time"), and that Nintendo intends to sell it above the typical $29.99 asking price.
Allegedly, Nintendo has secured the semiconductors needed for this massive rollout, and assembly will "begin" in July. Thanks to Twitter account Nintendeal we now have a more active lead, as Amazon Mexico listed a "New Nintendo Switch Pro" model on the site: the listing has since been taken down.
No one knows why Nintendo announces things on the days and random mornings they do: it's their way. I've heard numerous stories of the publisher intending to reveal something at X time, only to move it to Y, which might be the next day or weeks/months away.
It's very clear that this is an important, delicate announcement, and Nintendo needs to get the messaging right. If Bloomberg is correct and it will "replace" the original model, they need to have some sort of FAQ ready to answer everyone's concerns. Exactly when the original will be "phased out over time" is likely part of that messaging.
Nintendeal [Twitter] Thanks John!

Why did I wait so long to play Undertale?
Have you ever been too intimidated to play a video game? I think I’m mature enough to say that I have been on multiple occasions. Usually, it’s with a survival horror title. I’m a sucker for the stories of those games, but a massive coward when it comes to the actual scares. To give you an idea of how easily I frighten, I barely made it through Gone Home. I’m sure there are many great games and narratives I’ve missed over the years because the expectation of jump scares and pure dread intimidated me too much to actually give it a go.
Undertale was another title that intimidated me. Not because of its content, of course. I’ve known since before it released it was an RPG inspired by the likes of Earthbound and Moon: Remix RPG Adventure, which are both right up my alley. But every time I approached the possibility of popping the game into my Switch, I’d have people giving me a reason not to. Namely, the fanbase.
We are long past the point when Undertale was at the center of the gaming zeitgeist, but at the height of its popularity, some fans on the internet took their obsession with it way too far. A cursory Google search of “Undertale fans toxic” will bring up a wide variety of articles and videos on the problem. I was warned that I shouldn’t talk about the game on Twitter if I wasn’t doing a pacifist run, lest I invoke the wrath of strangers with an internet connection and way too much time on their hands.
In hindsight, I should have realized nobody gives a shit about my Twitter account and just done it anyway. But at the time, that was enough for me to never open my Switch copy. It’s sat on my shelf ever since, accumulating dust and hopefully, a respectable resell value on eBay. As the years passed and the frenzy over the game subsided, the itch to play it stayed with me. Seeing Sans appear in Smash Bros. only added to that desire, but it was after I went through Moon last year that I realized I'd waited long enough. I made a pact with myself to play the game within the year, and when it was added to Xbox Game Pass back in March, I knew the time had come.

Konami's Time Pilot '84 is this week's Arcade Archives release
Another week, another classic shmup from Hamster's Arcade Archives, bringing the quarter-munchers of yesteryear onto today's platforms. This week sees the return of Konami's space shootin' sequel Time Pilot '84, now available to download on PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
Released on the arcade scene in — unsurprisingly — 1984, Time Pilot '84: Further into Unknown Worlds is the sequel to Konami's own Time Pilot, but chooses to switch out the timezone-hopping, bi-plane piloting, horizontal gameplay of the original for a free-roaming, top-down perspective, a spaceship, and a more structured "futuristic" setting.
Players guide the vessel as it fends off hordes of enemies attacking from all directions. A deft hand for evasion and pixel-perfect aiming are required if the player wishes to stay alive, destroy the baddies, and combat each stage's Silver Space Boss. Honestly, the game bears little to no relation to its predecessor, suggesting that this was a separate project adapted to capitalize on the original's success.
Time Pilot '84 is available to download now on PS4 and Nintendo Switch, priced at around $8. Check out the action in the video below, courtesy of YouTuber Old Classic Retro Gaming.

Some Guilty Gear: Strive Features Cut Due to Challenges Stemming From COVID-19, Will Be Patched in Later
Less than two weeks ahead of Guilty Gear: Strive‘s release, Arc System Works has revealed that some of the game’s modes and features have been cut due to production challenges stemming from COVID-19. However, the developer isn’t doing away with those modes and features entirely as they’ll be patched in later.
During an interview conducted by Angelo Dargenio (via Rooflemonger), an Arc System Works representative said that 70 percent of the development team had to work from home due to the pandemic. As a result, they made the decision to leave out a PlayStation 5-specific graphics mode, some accessibility features, and a tag mechanic among other things.
ResetEra user Neoxon provided a handy list, which you can check out below:
- 70% of the ASW staff had to work from home due to COVID. As a result, some modes had to be cut which will be added back in later.
- The tag mechanic found in Arcade Mode will be the basis of a mode coming in the future, will be exclusive to Arcade Mode at launch.
- There will be a PS5-specific mode that’ll be added in a later update in addition to faster loading & a higher resolution (4K on PS5 vs. 864p on PS4 & 1080p on PS4 Pro).
- Guilty Gear Strive started from scratch, including things like game design & assets.
- Accessibility features like custom lighting settings, UI that takes color blindness into account regarding mirror matches, & an advanced voice system for those with visual impairments couldn’t be finished for the game’s launch, but will be worked on for future updates.
Guilty Gear: Strive will release on June 11th.

Biomutant Dev Promises Numerous Fixes and Changes Based on Community Feedback
Biomutant‘s reception as well as the discourse surrounding the game have been a mixed bag. While some have appreciated Experiment 101’s 20-person development team’s efforts to create a vibrant open world, Biomutant‘s gameplay and lackluster execution have been widely criticized. In light of the feedback, the developer has promised bug fixes and changes including difficulty settings and video settings.
A release date for the patch has yet to be shared, but Experiment 101 has promised that it’ll go live “soon.” The update will “most likely” land on PC first, followed by other platforms.
“We are working on an update for Biomutant which we will hope to get into players’ hands soon,” the studio tweeted. “Most likely we will be able to deliver the update to PC platforms first and then to consoles. The update will include bug fixes and changes based on community feedback. We are working on the pacing of dialogues, narrator settings, difficulty settings, video settings like depth of field and motion blur, loot and enemy tuning as well as sound and combat.”

Crytek Now Appears to Be Teasing Crysis Remastered Collection
It looks like it’s only a matter of time before Crytek officially confirms the existence of Crysis Collection, which includes remastered versions of all three games.
A week after the franchise’s official Twitter account teased a remaster of Crysis 2, it published the following tweets:
— Crysis (@Crysis) May 28, 2021

— Crysis (@Crysis) May 28, 2021
The Crysis Collection, or whatever the final product is titled, was first leaked last November when internet sleuths got a hold of Crytek’s internal development documents. The developer never officially confirmed the leaks, but its recent tweets pretty much corroborate the reports.
Fans now have more reason to believe that the entire leak was accurate, including the existence of a multiplatform sequel to Microsoft-exclusive Ryse: Son of Rome. Crytek is also likely to jump into the battle royale space with Crysis, a project referred to as Crysis Next in the documents with the following description:
A free-to-play battle royale game where hundreds of players collide in fast-paced combat. Visual customization, adaptive nanosuit powers, and visually spectacular combat in an immersive world creates the ultimate live streaming experience. The Crysis franchise has all the features to make a battle royale stand out. The gameplay. The style and setting. High production value.
We can also expect Crysis VR, Robinson 2, and Hunt Mobile at some point.
As usual, we’ll keep our eyes peeled and update our readers when we have more information. Based on Crytek’s Twitter activity, it’s likely that Crysis Collection will be announced within the next two weeks. Stay tuned.

Kadokawa’s Mecha Strategy RPG, Relayer, Will Release Simultaneously Worldwide for the PS4 and PS5
Kadokawa Games has announced that its space-based mecha strategy RPG, Relayer, will release simultaneously worldwide sometime this year for the PlayStation 5 and 4.
Billed as a “new age space opera,” Relayer is being developed by the God Wars development team, making this its first new simulation RPG for the PS5. The game is set in the year 2049 when humans meet “intelligent” extraterrestrial beings called the Relayers.
Relayer will feature over 80 jobs to customize characters with, and more than 80 stages. An official overview is as follows:
Humanity is not alone in the universe. In the year 2049, mankind finally meets intelligent life: the Relayers. Around the same time, the discovery of an ancient alien civilization sets the wheels of fate in motion for the Starchildren, humans bestowed with unique powers. Then, in the year 2051, our story begins one fateful day when two young women cross paths in Artemis, a colony located on the surface of the Moon. Get ready for an intergalactic adventure where humans and ancient aliens meet, and our stellar neighbors come to life!
Relayer takes place in the Milky Way galaxy, within our solar system. In the not-too-distant future, humanity has extended their sphere of influence to Jupiter, with the moon and Mars already established as colonies. Humanity’s very existence is threatened by mysterious extraterrestrials known as the Relayers, who plan to annihilate the universe. As if in response to the Relayers’ invasion, the Starchildren, human successors to the wills of the stars, awaken.
We’ll update our readers when a release date is announced. In the meantime, check out a trailer below.

E3 can never die â not really
For the past few years, a speculative question has been buzzing around as we get closer and closer to summer: Is E3 dying? By the mid-2010s, game studios started to pull their booths and presentations out from under the E3 banner because of costs, and the event started selling tickets to the public when it was usually known for being more exclusive for those in the industry. The writing was on the walls that something was up, and the global pandemic causing cancellations of any in-person events seemed like the final nail in the coffin.
Now that E3 2021 is finally here, it got me reflecting a lot on my own experience — I was able to attend the convention for the first and only time in 2018, when my career in games was just beginning, and I didn't quite yet know what I was getting myself into.
I started getting back into gaming again when I was in college, and attending E3 immediately became a new bucket-list item for me. Part of that was because I felt so isolated in my small town and going all the way across the country was a huge deal, but also because in any coverage I saw of the event... it just looked so cool. The lights, the game demos, the booths — not to mention the presentations with huge, roaring audiences, were more excitement than I had seen in my entire childhood.

Far Cry 6 Is Based on Political Events but Ubisoft Insists It’s Not Political
In recent years, the statement “Our game is not political” has become synonymous with Ubisoft releases. The studio has a penchant for seeking inspiration from real-life political events, but ends up insisting that its games has nothing to do with politics.
Speaking to TheGamer, Ubisoft reiterated once again that Far Cry 6 isn’t making a political statement despite the fact that its development team traveled all the way to Cuba to speak to actual guerrilla fighters and draw inspiration from guerilla movements.
Narrative director Navid Khavari said:
The original inspiration was Guerilla Warfare and what is that guerilla fantasy, which is obviously tied to revolution. When you talk about guerillas, you think of the guerillas in the 1950s and 1960s, we actually went down there to speak to actual guerilla fighters who fought back then, and we just really fell in love with their stories. But we also fell in love with the culture and people we met. When we came out of that, it wasn’t that we felt we had to do Cuba, we realized it’s a complicated island and our game doesn’t want to make a political statement about what’s happening in Cuba specifically. Beyond that, we’re drawing inspiration from guerilla movements around the world and throughout history. For us, it felt like doing the island of Yara would help us tell that story while being very open with our politics and inspiration.
Far Cry 6 will release on October 7th. It won’t be making any political statements on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Here's Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown's roster in all their boxy, retro glory
Earlier in the week, we revealed that Sega's upcoming slugger Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown was getting an amusing DLC bundle, offering players the opportunity to play as the entire Virtua Fighter 5 clan in a fashion recalling their old-school, polygonal roots.
The "Legendary Pack" DLC, which launches June 1 for $10, features two skins for each of VF 5's pugilists, reflecting each character's P1 and P2 regalia. Best of all, latter-day characters such as Brad Burns and El Blaze also receive VF 1-style skins, giving us a glimpse of what might have been had they appeared in the formative projects of Sega AM2.
For funsies, I took an in-game shot of every roster member sporting the new skins. They all look pretty great and some, such as Brad Burns and Vanessa, have two distinctly different looks to choose from. Sadly, the faces are not animated, so we don't get to see Lau's creepy, eyebrow-raising sneer. The Legendary Pack also includes an option to replace the redesigned U.I. with that of the original release in this classic series. Now all we need are a full range of Figmas. Make it happen, Good Smile Co.!
Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown launches June 1 on PS4. It will be included in June's PlayStation Plus selection, or can be purchased separately for $30, which includes the DLC.

Dying Light 2 Will Apparently Weigh Around 60 GB
An official product page for Dying Light 2: Stay Human has gone live on both the PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store, but the latter reveals a little bit more information that is of interest to players.
According to the Xbox page, Dying Light 2 will weigh around 60 GB. Sizes might differ between platforms and generations, but the differences are usually negligible. Both store pages also confirm that the game will feature microtransactions of some sort – par for the course when it comes to modern releases.
We already know that Dying Light 2 will feature 2-4 player co-op. However, unlike the PS Store, the Microsoft store mentions cross-gen multiplayer and co-op, re-confirming Techland’s 2019 promise.
Last but not least, here’s an official overview of the game:
Over twenty years ago in Harran, we fought the virus—and lost. Now, we’re losing again. The City, one of the last large human settlements, is torn by conflict. Civilization has fallen back into the Dark Ages. And yet, we still have hope.
You are a wanderer with the power to change the fate of The City. But your exceptional abilities come at a price. Haunted by memories you cannot decipher, you set out to learn the truth… and find yourself in a combat zone. Hone your skills, as to defeat your enemies and make allies, you’ll need both fists and wits. Unravel the dark secrets behind the wielders of power, choose sides and decide your destiny. But wherever your actions take you, there’s one thing you can never forget—stay human.
Dying Light 2 will release on December 7th.

Ubisoft Reiterates Far Cry 6 Will Run at 4K/60 FPS on New Consoles, Says It Runs ‘Fine’ on Last-Gen Consoles
Ubisoft has confirmed once again that Far Cry 6 will support 4K and 60 frames-per-second on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. To allay concerns, the developer also said that the game runs “fine” on last-gen consoles.
Folks over at Video Games Chronicle quizzed lead gameplay designer David Grivel about the state of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions with reference to the recent Cyberpunk 2077 controversy. In response, Grivel declined to go into details but promised that last-gen consoles aren’t being “abandoned” in any way.
What I can say, and I cannot go so much in details about specs or things like that, is that both on previous generation and the new Xbox Series and PS5 generation, the game is running fine. One detail I can add about the new generation is that it allowed us to run the game at 60 FPS and in 4K, which is really cool.
I test it on kits at the company and I can definitely see that as a great thing on the new generation, but that doesn’t mean that the previous generation is abandoned in any way. We’re really, really cautious about that, so we’ll show more detail and more info very soon. But yeah, we’ll care about all the platforms, both old gen, new gen and even PC, Stadia, Luna and all of that.
When VGC asked if Ubisoft anticipated any issues on last-gen consoles, Grivel simply answered “no” and added that the development team will target maximum performance on all platforms.

Sony Considers Returnal a ‘Successful’ New IP as PS5 Owners Cumulatively Spend Over 5.8m Hours Playing It
In its recent Investors Day presentation, Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed that it considers Housemarque’s Returnal a “successful new IP” alongside Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Tsushima.
That’s quite a feat for the Finnish studio as it transitions from making smaller, arcade games to AAA experiences – one that’s controversially priced $70. Returnal‘s commercial success is further proven by the impressive player statistics released by Housemarque on Twitter. According to the developer, PlayStation 5 owners have spent a cumulative total of 5,806,493 hours playing the game.
Potential spoilers ahead
Players killed 1015.9 million enemies, with Hollowseeker the popular weapon of choice. However, they also suffered 9.02 million player deaths – a majority of them caused by Phrike.
It’s been almost a month since our fantastic launch of Returnal! To celebrate here are some statistics showing how you are all adjusting to Atropos!
Thanks for playing from all of us at Housemarque pic.twitter.com/EanrlRGtSj— Housemarque (@Housemarque) May 28, 2021
Speaking of bosses, Housemarque penned a lengthy blog, explaining its approach to the Hyperion fight. It’s an interesting read for those who want a behind-the-scenes look at Returnal‘s development.
The studio wrote:
We’ve been very happy to see Returnal resonating so strongly with players, and this time we wanted to do a deep dive into one of our Bosses. In general, Boss battles have always been an essential test of skill for players in action games, and of course they’ve been a strong staple of the Housemarque formula in our past titles as well. With Returnal we really wanted to dedicate some time to create something special for our Boss encounters, and provide players with some powerful and memorable moments. We’ve been thrilled to see that players have been enjoying our Bosses so far.

Review: Biomutant
The open-world genre gives me hesitation these days; it’s almost a bad word. I blame Ubisoft. Not another waypoint! Not another tower to climb! Not another cathedral to parkour through! I’ll get to the main plot soon, I promise! Just a few more collectibles!
It’s not that I’m entirely down on the genre. I’ll readily admit to enjoying it. Games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Spider-Man have captured my attention and drawn me in, but to me, it’s like eating a bag of chips; my brain tells me I love it while it’s happening, but almost as soon as I’m done, I feel empty. The expanse of the vacuum varies, but I think even the best open-world games have given me this feeling.
What gave me further pause about Biomutant was its protracted development time. It was announced back in 2017, I pre-ordered it in 2019, and here is finally in 2021. Its feature list has always struck me as over-ambitious, especially for a small team like Experiment 101. It was billed as this fully adaptable game that let you make all the decisions in what you do and how you approach the game’s main objectives. I had my doubts that it would deliver, and now that it’s finally here, I can firmly say that no, it doesn’t quite make it. It’s a bag of chips. Delicious, delicious chips.

505 Games’ Parent Company Digital Bros. to Release 13 Games This Year, Second Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Game in Development
One of the last companies to reveal their financial results for the previous financial year is Digital Bros., the parent company of 505 Games. In the report, they revealed they’re planning on releasing 13 games during this financial year. While details on the majority of these were scarce, they were a little more forthcoming about games that will be released further into the future, and one of these is a sequel to Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Of the 13 new games to be released during fiscal year 2022, only two of them were named. One of these is the PC and mobile game Puzzle Quest 3, while the second is a free-to-play reboot of Hawken that’s aiming for a multiplatform release. The latter will have a new game design when compared to the ill-fated 2012 original as well as enhanced mech customisation to encourage players to spend in-game. Both games are due to be released sometime between July and September this year. There will also be an unannounced AA game due for release during the first quarter of 2022 and ten A games throughout the year, classified as new titles that have a maximum development budget of €5 million.
Further into the future, there will be the previously announced second title in the Ghostrunner franchise. Digital Bros. also revealed there’s a second game being developed in the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night franchise. Neither of these have a release window, or any further details for that matter. Assetto Corsa 2 is due to be released in 2024, while Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is currently scheduled for fall 2022. Accompanying these is an unannounced game from Spacelords developer Mercurysteam and “several” undisclosed IPs.
Both Assetto Corsa and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night continue to do well. The former has now sold 12 million copies, creating more than €66 million in revenue. The latter has shifted more than 1 million copies and has accrued €30 million in revenue. Meanwhile, Control has added another €11.5 million in revenue since the last sales figures update at the start of April, reaching a total of €71.5 million. It has sold more than 2 million copies.
Premium games make up 88.9% of the company’s yearly revenue. Free-to-play games make up 7.2%, leaving the remaining 3.9% to come from Italian distribution and “other projects”. Due to this, Digital Bros. has decided to move away from publishing agreements. They’re instead going to be increasingly focused on developing premium and free-to-play games internally, or leasing out their owned IPs to external studios. Following the success of the Ghostrunner IP since its acquisition by 505 Games, the company is looking at acquiring another IP relatively soon, although they didn’t say what this could be.

Whatcha been playing this week, Destructoid?
Something wicked this way comes. It starts with an "E" and it ends with a "3". Except it doesn't end, because that is the way of modern gaming media. What was once a half-week of constant excitement, reveals, news drops, and hard work has become a drawn out, months-long gala of constant streams, hours dedicated to individual games, and 160-minute PC showcases.
Still, it's hard not to feel the vibe as we approach gaming's biggest week. Who knows what we will see? I guess it comes down to what you want to see. Regardless, the best part of E3 is spending it with y'all, and we hope that this year you'll join us in the comments once again with your takes on this year's industry offerings. You'll make it all worth the effort. You always do.

Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown's netcode is reportedly based on Final Showdown's
While Sega offered a variety details pertaining to its upcoming release Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown yesterday, one aspect of the game went mysteriously unspoken: the all-important netcode. The silence has been deafening, as Ultimate Showdown is a title that has been literally designed specifically for competition, thus a stable online experience is a must.
In an email to Kotaku, Sega has stated that Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown will use delay-based netcode technology adapted from 2012 release Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown, essentially using decade-old technology to run the remake in an online capacity. The news has caused Virtua Spit-Takes from fans, who were hoping for modern tech — perhaps the much-vaunted "rollback" — to make an appearance. Honestly, I wasn't expecting rollback at all, but I was at least expecting freshly built technology.

Our First Look at Uncharted Movie Footage is Just Two Seconds of Sully and Nate
After a promotional screenshot caused some fans to become disgruntled earlier this week, we now have our first look at footage from the Uncharted movie. The footage shows Mark Wahlberg’s Victor “Sully” Sullivan and Tom Holland as Nathan Drake dressed up all fancy. Sully walks past Nate and… that’s it. In fact, the gif that’s been playing above is literally the entire duration of the footage. It’s about two seconds, though at this point it’s still the most we’ve ever seen of the Uncharted movie in motion.
The footage came as part of a video called “The Voices of Sony,” and you can see it for yourself at the 1:32 mark below. Just don’t blink or you might miss it.
Scrubbing through the clip slowly doesn’t reveal too many interesting details. The first part of the clip, where Sully looks up, seems to be disconnected from the second portion as he walks past Nate. In the first he is wearing a bowtie, while it’s been removed in the second. Nate is giving Sully some kind of look with his arms folded as he walks by. The two seem to have some kind of disagreement happening here. It’s not exactly clear how established their relationship is at this point, given that the Uncharted movie is a prequel exploring the younger versions of these characters pre-Uncharted 1.
Notably, the footage still seems to lack specific identifying features that make it Uncharted. The only way anyone could tell this brief clip was from Uncharted was due to Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg being on screen together. And just like the image released earlier this week, Wahlberg still isn’t sporting the characteristic Sully-stache here, though we do know that he gets it at some point.
This clip could mean that Sony is getting ready to start showing off trailers soon. With some edited post-production footage clearly being made available (not to mention the odd way these two short clips are cut together), this clip is mostly likely a very small snippet of a trailer to come, though Sony has yet to officially announce or tease the release of an Uncharted movie trailer.
The Uncharted movie releases February 18th, 2022.

Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is reportedly headed to PC
It looks like the next PlayStation exclusive in-line for a PC port will be Naughty Dog's rock-climbing, treasure-hunting, neck-snapping adventure Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, which originally launched on PS4 back in May 2016. Yes, it was that long ago.
The whispers began after the third-person adventure was name-checked in a Sony Investor Day Presentation. As you can see in the linked document, a slide was shown noting Sony had more PC ports planned, specifically referencing Uncharted 4 alongside recent PC arrival Days Gone. Sony itself is yet to publicly announce the port, but does have a Horizon-themed State of Play event scheduled for later today, so it's not impossible confirmation might be made of Uncharted's port status.
Detailing the twilight days of Nathan Drake's adventures, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End sees Drake — alongside long-time companions Sully and Elena — don the hiking boots for one last death-defying journey into lost civilizations' past. The sequel was universally acclaimed by press for its gorgeous art design, frenetic action, and worthy conclusion to the engaging story of Drake and his pals. Uncharted 4 would become one of the PS4's best-selling titles, having shifted over 15 million copies to date.

I'm glad to say that the early MVP Demon's Souls has a discount. Now, it isn't a great discount — the game is $60.19 — but 14 percent off the top isn't nothing. It's been slow-going since launch outside of Returnal and Resident Evil Village, and if we're talking big, impressionable PS5 titles, Demon's Souls is still my favorite. Spider-Man: Miles Morales, another fun one, is down to $39.99 for PS4/PS5.
Some other recommendations from the Days of Play 2021 sale:
- Assassin's Creed Valhalla ($35.99)
- Sackboy: A Big Adventure ($49.79)
- Ghost of Tsushima ($40.19)
- The Last of Us Part II ($29.99)
- Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate ($26.99)
- Sekiro ($29.99)
- Dreams ($9.99)
- Judgment ($29.99 for PS5, $19.99 for PS4)
- Yakuza: Like a Dragon ($41.99)

- Nioh 2 Remastered - The Complete Edition ($39.99)
- Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville ($7.99)

If you ended up getting a PS5 but you could only snag a Digital Edition console that can't play discs, and, as a result, you're at the mercy of the PlayStation Store for your PS5 game deals, I feel for you. It's going to be a long wait for some of these $70-at-launch titles to reach anything approaching half price.
One thing I'll say about this sale: while a lot of the deals aren't very enticing price-wise, I appreciate the new sorting options in the web-based PlayStation Store. I like being able to break these sales down by platform, content type, and even "most downloaded" to quickly see what's catching everyone's eye.
