Out of the blue last night, Nintendo dropped a ton of information regarding upcoming Pokemon titles for the Switch. First out of the gate is Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokemon Let’s Go Eevee. Designed as a “bridge” of sorts for Pokemon Go players, these Switch games are semi-remakes of Pokemon Yellow on Gameboy, featuring simplified mechanics alongside the traditional RPG world.
Pokemon Go players will be able to transfer their Kanto region ‘mon from that game into their Let’s Go on Switch. Nintendo are also promising an update to Go to provide even more synchronicity.
You can check out the trailer here:
To go alongside Let’s Go, Nintendo are also releasing the Pokeball Plus, a new Switch controller. Featuring a small analogue stick, you can use it to control Let’s Go, with motion control allowing you to catch Pokemon in the wild. It’s also got lights, vibration and sound for added interactivity and players can “store” their favourite Pokemon in it to take them out on the road with them and earn extra rewards for the game.
Both Let’s Go games and the Pokeball Plus are out on 16th November 2018.
If you’re chomping at the bit and want to get some Pokemon on your Switch, like, RIGHT NOW then Nintendo also have you covered. Pokemon Quest is a free to play ARPG for Switch and Mobile in which you field a team of three Kanto region Pokemon, take part in touch based battles, earn experience and find secret treasures on Tumblecube island. It’s all rendered in a cutesy Minecraft/Crossy Road style and you can watch the trailer here:
Looking for more? Nintendo have promised that there will be a brand spanking new Pokemon game out on Switch in 2019 that will continue on from Sun and Moon! Eyes peeled for more news on that!
